Hi guys
my husband office has a gift tree, for kids who's parents, dont have money
Anyway he picked a 10 year old girl, who wants winter boots
and a 9 year old boy, who wants hat and gloves
I am going to include a few more things, without going crazy price wise
What do kids this age like???? matchcars??? comics???, books????, coloring books???

Since you don't know anything about their likes/dislikes maybe give them a Target gift card so they can pick out their own toys.0

Okay I can help on the 10year old girl, I have a 9 and 5 and then a 10year old step-daughter
All my girls love Polly Pockets, HighSchool Musical, Barbies, All of my girls love to draw so maybe some art things, crafts, I don't know how much you are wanting to spend but Wal mart has good prices on the Polly Pockets and barbies.
Hope this helps

Books are always nice, a welcome fantasy world for some with few toys/money... bookstores can offer great age appropriate selections, or a gift card.0

Kids like opening presents-- any presents. Head to a dollar store-- word search puzzle books-- silly string-- squirt guns-- bubble gum-- M&Ms. You can get them quite a booty, and they'll have a ball opening it all up.0

And how did your husband get my kids names?0 -
I have two little sisters, and I would say no gift cards! Kids want to tear into gifts. I agree with the High School Musical, Barbie, and Matchbox suggestions. Also, the dollar store idea is a great one. These kids have probably only ever seen what my family calls "skinny christmas" with just a few presents under the tree. I think the best thing you do is load them up with toys and treats to open on christmas morning. So do Dollar Store or Target's $1-$5 section they have when you first walk in. Merry Christmas and bless you for thinking of others :drinker:0

Thanks guys, I agree no gift cards,

I don't know what kind of climate they live in, but I think it's nice to give kids toys that get them outside to play. Sleds can be inexpensive...or maybe some sort of outdoor game? It seems like I never see kids outside playing anymore!0

For the girl I'd say like one of those hair sets that comes with a brush and mirror and ponytail holders etc. They are inexpensive and 10 is really an age when little girls start caring about their looks. How sad is it that children WANT boots and mittens fofr Christmas Kids are supposed to want toys for Christmas, you know, the useless stuff, lol. What about a diary for her? with a little key?0

kids like "gifts" they what to see boxes to open so gift cards aren't that cool until you're a teenager I think. Anything disney, hannah montana, high school musical, etc should be safe. Movies would probably be a good idea, too! They probably want to fit in with the kids at school and its hard growing up without money for trendy things like that.0

The Jonas Brothers are a big deal at that age, and as previously stated, Hannah Montana, High School Musical are really big right now. For boys, a lego set might be a good idea.
I agree with Max about the whole battery thing...whether you have to worry about money to replace them or not, as a parent I hate dealing with dead batteries!0 -

Just don't include anything that requires batteries only because they may be not be able to afford new ones.
Oh my-- yes-- great call Max-- batteries are a total pain.0 -
