I am very active and so when I entered my activity factor in for MFP I put very active. Does this add in the difference in metabolism of an active person due to body composition and extra calories burned at rest, or is this supposed to include my workouts? Should I still enter in my workout into my exercises, or should I assume that MFP has already accounted for the calories I burn through exercise? If I want to enter my exercise do I need to enter my activity as sedentary first?

The activity factor is a number from 1.2 to 2.1 (depending on how they have it set up) that is multiplied by your BMR to determine your Total Daily Energy Expenditure. MFP uses the Mifflin-St Jeor formula which does not take into account body composition. To account for body composition you will need to use either the Katch-McArdle formula or the Cunningham equation. If you are extremely active, basically an athlete, the Cunningham equation may be more accurate for you, but for most people Katch-McArdle is pretty accurate.
That being said, if you have your activity factor set to very active, depending specifically how many calories you burn through exercise, it should already be accounted for.0 -
