I selected light activity and losing 2lbs loss per week. I also put in that I am working out for 1 hour every day (a 1-2 hour walk or bike ride in the eve, lots of walking at work). It says my calories burned/week is 2850 and my net calories per day are 1200. What I am confused about and would really appreciate an answer to is if I am supposed to burn more than I consume per week how do I figure this from the equation given?

Also, I was wondering if I should change it to sedentary lifestyle and just add my calories burned n eat them back?

It won't add in your exercise calories. That is just to help you know how you are progressing towards your goal. So, you enter your calories burned as you exercise. Otherwise, it will set you up to lose weight even if you don't exercise.

Net would be after your burned calories.

Your exercise goal and your weight loss goals are two different goals. I was confused about this also. But if you do work out and log it then it will add it in for you at that time. And mfp will always tell you exactly how much you need to eat. It also tells you how many calories you burned with exercise. So if you want to eat only half of them or all of them or non of them, then you can calculate it accordingly at that time.

you want to try and keep your net at 1200 a day.

So do you recommend that I put my activity level to sedentary or lightly active? With a desk job at work but quite a bit of walking and an hour walk in the eve?
