Not enough cals but too much sugar...help!

I have been going over my food diary each day and many days I tend to be done eating for the day and see that I have 400 or more calories to go to reach my calorie limit for the day. However, my sugar is already over the amount I should meet. Sometimes the sugar intake was double what I should have.
Does anyone have any suggestions for foods that have the calories I need to fill my intake for the day but that have very very little or no sugar? Any help would be very appreciated.
Thank you,
Jackie

What types of foods are you eating? It's hard to give you help without seeing your food diary.
Just read the labels on all your foods.0 -
Nuts are pretty calorie-dense, without added sugar. However, fruit juices are high in sugar, as well as raisins. You'd be surprised how many "healthy" foods are loaded with sugar.
Watch out for low-fat, no-fat foods. They can also have added sugar.
If you're eating pretty healthy, though, and losing weight and feeling good, I wouldn't worry about it too much.0 -
Try popcorn if you have some calories left and can snack. Full Circle makes a great microwave variety. Fruits are high in sugar so don't go overboard with them. Stay away from juices as they are empty calories....calories and sugar but not much content. Nuts are good but don't panic when you see the fat content, just use portion control. Remember mono fats are the good ones! Instead of eating as you go during the day and then finding you have extra calories, try planning your menu for the day. That way you can enter it in MFP the night before and delete and "tweak" it as you go so you can see what you can eat to get your calories up and your sugars down. If you eat yogurt the lowest sugar variety is Fiber One....the key lime is awesome but the strawberry and other flavors are so-so.
It's great that you are monitoring your sugars. Alot of people don't and then complain when they aren't losing weight. Good Luck fellow New Yorker!0 -
