Why is it that I weigh the same as I have been, but I look and feel fatter and flabbier? I have not been going to the gym and am planning on getting back on that tomorrow. Is it the loss of muscle? Is it the gain of fat? It's aggravating... my eating habits have not gone completely off the wall.

Fat weighs less than muscle, so if you haven't been exercising regularly it's likely that you have gained fat and lost some muscle. A week or so of kicking up your exercise regimen aught to do the trick.

Have you been eating a lot of salty stuff? Sometimes it'll make you feel bloated and icky without really adding much weight.

I did on occasion last week because I was staying at someone else's house and was limited in my food choices.. but I am constantly aware of my sodium intake

Maybe it is TTOTM....and you are bloated because of hormones?

I think for myself sometimes it's just knowing that I'm not doing as good as I should will make me feel down on myself therefore "distorting" what I see in the mirror. But it could also be like the others are saying, bloating or less muscle tone from not hitting the gym as often. Either way, I'm sure once you step it back up you'll see the results quickly!
  • No. Muscle is more lean than fat. Fat takes up more space.

Feeling that you look for without any appreciable measure of so is just psychology. It's all in your miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind.
  • I too weigh the same, even though this past week I've eaten a lot. My family is telling me my face looks fuller and better than before, yet the scale shows me at the same weight. I lost about 45 lbs without exercise, can the extra calories I've eaten this past week reflect so quick and on my face?

    LOL OH YOU-

Also, with a calorie restrictive diet it's hard to keep muscle mass. Also you say working out- do you mean strength training? If your only doing cardio and eating a deficit in calories then you're on your way to skinny fat.

Same problem with me. Last three weeks I was staying my parents and i didnt really exercise and ate a lot and didnt count calories. When I got back everyone was like your face looks fuller and you look all plump and healthy. :flowerforyou: After my hard work and weightloss that kind of comment doesnt really make me feel good! I checked my weight and I am still at the same weight. What the hell happened?

Have you taken measurements? It may just be your perception.
