Hey girls,
Does anyone take the birth control pill Loestrin? I just started taking it a week and a half ago so my period would start back up (I stopped menstruating due to weight loss and lots of exercise) and I feel fatter lately. My stomach always feels and looks a little bloated these past few days. I'm so upset. Also, before I started taking the pill, my weight fluctuated daily from 124-126 and now the scale says 126 every day. It really bothers me because I put a lot of work into losing weight and I hate how I feel 'puffy' lately. Does anyone have any feed back for me?? Thanks!!

Hey Jen - pop back to your GP if it is a concern for you. I'd be more concerned that your periods stopped due to diet/exercise than a bit of bloating, but if it is distressing you go back you your doctor.0

Hi Jen,
I think you should talk to your doc about your concerns. I think it's normal to gain a little when you're on the pill but the fact that your periods stopped due to exercise/weight loss is a bigger concern and might indicate that you've lost too much. Being healthy is more important than a 2 lb difference. Take care of yourself!0 -
I've taken Loestrin for 2 years now. In fact, I'm pretty sure that Loestrin is what caused me to gain weight. I've gained 20lbs (!!!), 12 of them in the first year. I also have NOT had a period at all since I started on it.0

Thanks everyone. I am obviously very concerned about not getting my period but I see my gynecologist quite often and hopefully we have things under control after all the blood work and tests I have gotten done. Its actually known that many runners will stop getting their period for some time. Also, weight loss often causes it. Hopefully I will get it soon!0

I think I was on this one at some point (I've been on pretty much everything). Like every other BC pill I've tried, it gave me all the side effects. I ditched the pill finally and went with an IUD, little to no side effects now0

I put on 10lbs with Loestrin in 4 months...not saying eating unhealthy high fat foods was my fault (but honestly as soon as I came off of it I dropped it all off in 1 month). That pill did bloat me a lot and I started having pains in my leg all the time so I stopped them. Definatley check with your dr., it may just not be the right pill for you. (They also now have the low hormone version of Loestrin 24, not sure which one you are taking though. Mine was the regular levels)0
