I've blown my calories today :(

I was doing really well today, I felt a little hungry earlier, after lunch, but instead of eating, I went through all my clothes and I've given all the clothes that are now too big for me to charity
Then, I wrapped some more christmas presents, then sat in the lounge with the family, and a big tin of roses chocolates - I forgot myself..I've just eaten 10 mini chocolates and overeaten by 97 calories:blushing: , not too bad, but...I've not had my dinner yet !!! :noway:
I know I shouldn't skip meals due to my diabetes, so... I think the best thing is to have some beans on toast - am I right guys?

Do some exercise and earn some calories back - not sure how the weather is where you are (we're a little rainy here) but go out for a walk, pop in a video (my cable company has some exercise on demand, don't know if that's an option) Even if you don't earn back enough calories to cover dinner, it's better than doing nothing!0

A little workout should put you past the beans on toast.0

I agree, work out. My daugthers calories were low, then she went on a bike ride and it raised her calories.0 -
Wether you decide to exercise or not eat dinner. Don't skip a meal. Tomorrow is another day:flowerforyou:

I agree with everyone else.. don't skip a meal.. I used to do that and instead ended up in plateau mode for awhile.. I think so long as you don't go over your "maintenaince calories" you are alright..and even if you do...it's only one day.. I am never.. NEVER in my calorie range..and have still lost weight. I am allowed about 1370 calories a day...and every day I am a good 200 or more calories over that. But I believe that so long as the food you are eating is alright..and you are exercising ( I walk) you are alright. When I first started MFP..... I was forcing myself to stay under 1000 calories... I don't know how I did it because I can't do it now if I even tried..but I ended up going into starvation mode..wondering why I wasn't losing weight.... Then all my helpful friends here told me to bump up my calories..I did..and low and behold lost five pounds!!! Now I've lost over 20 lbs....of course... I probably could lose it quicker..but for some reason..losing a lb a week seems to just do it for me..and I haven't gained a pound back yet... getting closer and closer to that goal weight!! So Good luck to you and really....don't worry about it too much0

Thanks everyone, I felt much better after my exercise, stepped on the scale this morning - just to see, and I'm the same weight I was before the sweet demon reared his ungly head  (no, I'm not talking about my hubby:laugh: )
I'm now taking the weekends off the gym - as I go 5 days a week now, but I always seem to panic over my calories, because at weekends, I'm generaly too tired to cook a family meal when I get home, so I end up snacking when I should be eating properly, so I've decided, when I'm working weekends, I'm going to buy in a few microwave meals - not the best thing in the world but hey, a lot less hassle all round
I've already planned my meals for today, and I'm going to try my hardest to stick to it, I desperately want to lose another 12lbs by christmas :bigsmile:0 -
I have to chime in here. I had a rough day yesterday on calories, too... and I didn't do any extra exercise to make up for it. I was under for a few days in a row during the week and I think mentally I just said "oh what the heck". I didn't go crazy, but I did drink a glass of wine when I didn't need to. Oh well, today is a new day!!!0

Never skip your meals - it slows your metabolism and slows your weight loss. When you're diabetic, staying on track with meals is even more important.
Don't get too crazy trying to be exact on your calorie count every day.Got some diet advice from a fitness trainer the other day. He suggested if my baseline daily calorie allowance is 1800, and I 'earn' another 3500 calories a week by exercising, I can average the earned calories over the week and shoot for 2300 (500 earned calories + 1800 baseline) every day. I still keep track of calories eaten and calories burned, but it is SOOOO much easier to be a little over some days and a little under the next than to have a skimp on portions one day, then end up eating more than you feel like the next to try to be dead on your calorie allowance every day. Also takes away a lot of the guilt if you have a little treat or a glass of wine with dinner, because you know it will all average out0 -
I'br found I do well if I take this one day at a time, or I end up thinknig oh well, I've got another so many days this week to be good, and then, those days, I start the same old scenario again, so now, I am strict with myself, I don't miss meals, if I go over on my calories then I exercise some more - its as simple as that, we all have to find something that works for us right? and 1 day at a time works for me :flowerforyou:0
