Ever since Red Bull came out 6 years ago when I first started college I have been drinking energy drinks, whatever new one comes I try. The past 6 years I have not been able to go to sleep because I find myself urinating too much at n ight. Ihave tried to just drink it in the morning, and still same result. Even though I exercise and diet because of the caffeine and urinating at night I can't seem to find any energy. Caffeine is only a temporary fix. So I am going to try to stop today, has anyone ever had a problem stopping, or feels tired all the time even though they drink caffeine?

  • I drink alot of caffine too. So much, that it doesn't seem to really have any effect on me, except when I don't have it. I can drink a pot of coffee and go to bed.

I've drunk and currently to drink a lot of caffeine. I don't have any problems with it, but when I stopped all caffeine for 3 months in the past, I remember saying wow I feel great. I took vitamins and after a couple weeks, I had a lot of energy.

    *edit*

oh yeah the caffeine headaches were EVIL the first few days and I had the energy level of a slug.

I believe we have the same immunity. Coffee is now consumed solely for its flavor.

You're going to have some withdrawral. Get some pain killers for the headaches.
Also for the urinating, make sure you're drinking plenty so that you're not irritating your bladder (made even worse by the diuretics). The urinary tract has two sphincters, one auto, one manual. Once past the inner, auto sphincter, it's hard to hold it long (hence 'breaking the seal' on a night of drinking). You can still train your body to hold it longer while you sleep by deliberately holding urine in longer than you need to (near a toilet).

It's a really good, but difficult step to get off of caffeine, it's a powerful drug.

Yeah, I started a job where I HAVE to be up by 5:30am and was drinking a 24oz Mt. Dew on the way to work and 32oz of coffee before lunch! Stopping was hard, I noticed I was a zombie when I didn't drink coffee and I didn't like that I was dependent on it.
Yeah, it took a few weeks, but I feel better in the mornings and don't pee as much through the day!

I know if I stop I will feel great... just I am working on my masters in school.. and never really have a few days to quit.. I am going to try really hard becasue I know I will feel better... just it is a stimulant, and my brain thinks I need it for energy when it doesn't even work any more, hopefully I can quit!

I don't really have a problem with going to bed, it is getting up and urinating!

You're getting up to urinate because you can't hold it all night. Drink plenty, practice holding it.

when i was trying to get pregnant ( 3 1/2 years ago) i decided to quit drinking caffeine bc i knew id have to when i did get pregnant... i had the worst headaches, i'm talking migraine headaches.. they started about 2 days after i quit (i guess my body had to catch up) but after about a week they subsided and things went back to normal..i honestly didn't see a reduction in my energy level either-- i dont know that my energy level went up any but it definately didn't go down
