So! I was just thinking... it is very hard to get exactly 100 calories of some food. (I did the math to figured out what 100 calories of mint M & Ms were 14 was 98 and 15 was 105 so I decided to round down for my own 100 calorie pack and went with the 98) my question is... these makers of 100 calories packs... what do they do? round up or round down?
What do you think? (besides that I have too much time on my hands!) lol:laugh:

They're actually a completely different, more healthy-less-bad-for-you product.0

It's hard to say. I make my own 100 Calorie snack packs all the time using regular boxes. ( example: Cheeze It crackers). I figure if it's really close to 100 it's good enough for me. I wouldn't stress over a couple of calories. ( you will drive yourself nuts if you do).:drinker:0

those 100 calorie packs are a rip off in my eyes and I even bought them before but then I realized that I can buy the normal product and just use better portions instead of eating a whole cupcake I can have 1/2- its all about moderation-
As far as counting to the exact calorie who has time for that I would go crazy0 -
Maybe the broken ones make it to 100 calories.0

Maybe the broken ones make it to 100 calories.
   you might not know how true that is! Decided with all the hype I'd look over some and picked up a box of I'm not sure the name of them..but basically it's sorta like a chex mix deal.
Ok, here's the part I found funny as I read your post and realized how true it is! The pretzels it has in are broken in 1/2. No they didn't BREAK by themselves in travel. They appeared to be put in the pkgs. as part of the 100 cal pack.  :noway:
As last night was my first buy of them... here's my thoughts. OMG THEY ARE EXPENSIVE!!! OMG I'm sorry but $5.99 for a 5 pack of maybe an 1/8 of cup of broken pretzels and some crackers etc.?
I'm with mrsyac2 ....I say waste of money... if I'm in a mood for sugar or salt (hello pms) well what keeps a person from eating a whole box of these vs. a box of whatever else you have in the cupboard.... ya know?? I oviously wasn't a very savvy shopper last night as I didn't even realize the price they were until I was glancing at my receipt today.
I did try a pack, .....ew, really really salty... high sodium! SO I think I'll stick to buying the lower cost larger sizes and doing self portions if I have mood for something. I just get the lil snack sized baggies and go that route. TONS cheaper and that's what I'm about these days....less cost!
Or if I want something in particular I buy a small snack size individual bag of whatever at the store and plan it in.
I really don't eat to much processed food anymore...if I can help it. I'm not so sure those 100 cal packs are any healthier at least not the zillion boxes of ingredients I was reading, I still saw high sodium, high fructose corn syrup etc, fats etc.. They appeared to be just tiny portions (so of course the carbs etc. will looks much lower on 4-6 small cookies) so they can advertise it being 100 cal packs which seems to have become a craze/phase the advertising media is running with these days.....
.... my thoughts on cal packs... first thought expens, 2nd ew...they taste odd to me. :noway:
I'm with Jeannie, if I want a cookie I want a real one:laugh: :grumble: and not a fake strange tasting one.... I'll just plan it in my day is all:drinker:
I also agree on learning portion control....I can see how it might help at the very beginning in learning but in time we all will need to learn our own way to portion control treats etc. Companies and ad agencies know folks are Gullible and go for the product that will sell and it seems to be working...
That being said.....I've heard a couple folks on here swear by them....that they can eat one, but most I've heard on here end up eating all the pkgs. in one night they shared making it a binge feeling for them. :noway: So that's a sad way of feeling out of control......
ok end of cal pack rant:laugh: :flowerforyou: :yawn:0 -
There are a few I love (like chocolate covered pretzels) but the ones that are "fake" or thin oreos, and other cookies are nasty to me. I would rather have 2 oreos for a little more calories, than a handful of cookies that taste like cardboard But that being said, I do have a few stocked up for when I am in a hurry for a low-calorie snack.0

you have some good points Jenni.....I think that's what I noticed the more fake ones. I too if cookie searching would go for real vs. the fake thin 'odd' tasting ones... come to think of it...someone did offer me one of the thin ones...I was thinkin I had tasted one of those type but knew I hadn't bought any...0
