Hey everyone,
So all I did was increase my calorie intake by only 200 calories, and i'm struggling. I'm still only eating about 800 calories a day, but I am ALWAYS bloated and stuffed, and I feel like all I'm doing is eating. I've been on 800 calories for about a week, and said i'd go up another 200 next week, but I seriously don't think I can eat anymore than I already am. Not to mention my constant bloatedness is taking it's toll on my self esteem.
What I ate today:
Breakfast: Uncle Toby's instant oats packet, tub of 150g nestle yogurt, a couple of handfuls of mixed berries
Lunch: Nandos garden salad with grilled chicken
Dinner: plain Vegetable stir fry (was so stuffed i couldn't eat anything more)
Snacks: A carrot, some pumpkin, a punnet of strawberries, another tub of nestle yogurt, a small skinny cappuccino
I don't want to be so stuffed ever again.. help!
BTW I don't want to gain weight, just maintain weight.

Agreed healthy fats. . . . raw seeds, nuts, avocado, olives, olive oil. . . . All these should help with bloat. . . . make sure that you are getting enough water as this is essential to keep from experiencing bloating. . . 1/2 your weight in ounces is recommended . . . but 8 glasses at the minimum. . ..
You could try adding a flax supplement or ground flax or flax oil(best on salad)
And if you are trying to get in additional calories the other thing that you can have is a protein shake.0 -
You are eating super low cal stuff. I did myself a similar stirfry and it was only 400 cals (incl oil) too low for my main evening meal and I was full too. It will be hard to get the cals on low cal foods.
You probably need to include some healthy fats. Like having some nuts and oily fish. Not sure if you are avoiding bread, but a slice of toast will be 100+ cals, or having baked breaded chicken on that lunch instead could easily add some needed extra.0 -
I agree with the healthy fats. Try eating nuts add avacado to as much of your foods as possible. And give your stomach time to adjust. From what I understand our stomach is like a balloon. It can stretch if we are eating large portions and it will grumble as it shrinks when we cut back. But the same goes for if we eat smaller portions for awhile. Eventually it adjusts. And it will take time for the amount of food you are eating to feel normal. But it will. Then you will know it is time to take a step up again *hugs* hang in there.0

Yeah i thought about eating stuff like that, but if I eat more of those small, high-calorie foods, what will happen if one day I replace them with a bigger, lower-calorie equivalent as a snack, like some bread or veggies? will i get bloated again or will my stomach have expanded?0

I fail to see how you can be stuffed on 800 cals per day! You are not eating enough!0

I fail to see it too!! I think I might start drinking more milk and adding nuts onto my meals to get the calories up.0 -
Maybe you have 'air' in your stomach...coffee sometimes does that...maybe a hot drink before your meals might help. Plus adding nuts, seeds will help increase the calories.0

I agree! Bread, nuts, avocado - like Jade39 said, a protein shake - MANY options.0 -

That's why it's important to eat a balanced diet each day, so that one day you aren't overeating on the bulky low cal stuff and feeling stuffed to the gills then the next eating tiny amounts of high cal stuff. It's a fine line, and a difficult job, but finding that balance is necessary to eating healthy and FEELING healthy. And I agree on the water thing, LOTS of water.0 -
