Good, but Eye-Opening Morning...Vent

Well, it actually all started last night...
My husband walked into the kitchen and asked me if his jeans looked too tight-And yes, they did look painted on. I gave him a little smile and just nodded, and the smile on HIS face spread from ear to ear. It was then that I realized...He's wearing MY pants!!!!! :noway:
I ended up getting mad and yelling at him, but only because I was trying to hide the fact that my feelings were hurt and I was SO embarrassed by the fact that my 220 pound husband can fit into my jeans...I only (Ha, "only" being appropriate here since I'm comparing my weight to my hubby's) weigh 163-How is it possible for him to squeeze into my jeans? *Sigh* However he did it, he did it, and it was a HUGE eye opener.

Then, this morning...Me and a couple of girlfriends ran in a quarter marathon earlier today, and while my friends (who are both SO TINY) were raiding the food tent, I was standing around with our husbands who were there to support us. Somehow, the guys started talking about their weights. Well, my brother in-law throws out there that he weighs 170 pounds, and I'm sitting there thinking, 'Man...I'm only 7 pounds away from weighing as much as my brother in-law'. Then our friend says, "Yeah, I weight around 162-164." Uh, HELLO?!? That is exactly what I weigh

Then on the ride home my sister in-law and I are looking at the pictures that were taken of us during the race, and in every single one I look like a giant, just way tall (which is fine) and way bigger, than my sis in-law and friend. Needless to say, I hope those pictures don't make it into any albums or onto any websites!

I'm tired of being as big or bigger than the guys I hang out with...And I'm tired of being SO MUCH bigger than the other girls in my family. And I just feel like it's never going to change. I came here in September and I've lost NOTHING. In fact I've gained some. It's nobody's fault but my own...So I'm going to use these past events as motivation. And when my friends and I run in the Jingle Bell run in 3 weeks, I want to be 7 pounds lighter. It might be a bit harder to do with Thanksgiving coming up, but I'm determined.

On a happier note, I finished the race in 56 minutes, and beat both of my skinny minny friends
At least I can haul this big booty around!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! :flowerforyou:

OK- that was a totally insensitive male thing to do. Guys are portortioned totally different so chalk it up to that being the reason he got into your jeans. Tell him if he wants in your pants there are other ways to let you know.. te-he. If you're exercising a lot you could be trading your muscle for for fat thus resulting in the slow weight loss. Either way your going in the right direction and keep it up girl. Your beautiful at 163 and you're going to to look and feel that much better as this journey continues.

Congrats on your race!!!!!!!!!! You should be super proud of yourself.

MK - I don't think there's anything i can tell you that will give you an immediate uplift, but just know that if my husband did that to me, I would have beat the junk out of him. ESPECIALLY when he knows that you're trying to get healthier & lose weight. That was just mean. Men carry their weight differently than women, too.

Just know that you're doing great & you'll get to your goal. Try not to compare yourself to other women or men, especially the naturally skinny ones. :grumble: I'm proud of you for completeing a 1/4 marathon! That's great!

I know you feel down now, but just keep working at it & you'll be able to show them all up very soon. And tell your husband the next time you catch him wearing your clothes, you're going to start asking more questions about other things. :glasses:

    Let me add this:

You'll never be happy with yourself or within yourself or content with who you are unless you stop comparing yourself to others. There will always be someone "skinnier" or "prettier" or "richer" or "fill-in-the-blank" than you. To compare yourself to others is to lessen who you are--and that is YOU. What others are is THEM and YOU can NEVER be THEM.

Just because your friends are skinny, doesn't sound like they are as healthy as you! Sounds like you smoked 'em!

At least it was your pants he tried on and he didn't come up to you in your underwear! :noway:

I'm not really comparing myself to them...I mean, I am, but I'm not saying "I want to be as skinny as her," or, "My goal is to look like that." I just want to feel comfortable when I hang out with them, and not so out of place...I wanna look like I fit in!!

And not be as big as their husbands. :ohwell:

try having once been bigger than most NFL players. :frown:
  • You're gorgeous! And besides. If you weigh 163 and are bigger than their husbands, then maybe their husbands need to get in the gym and buff up some, because it sounds like they are a little on the wimpy side.

Good to see you back, too, Photog! How are things?
  • Hi Shorerider! Things are going well. I am off to my daughter's wedding!. We leave Thursday, the wedding is Saturday. I'm praying there will be no rain for her wedding. It's been raining there some and it is an outside wedding. And, hopefully, I won't fall off the wagon to much during the trip. :drinker:

You know, it's weird...I told my bf to try my pants on to see if they fit, because I think they would, and he's 5'10 and 220. But he's entirely unwilling and thinks I'M the weird one. I had an ex put my pants on and they looked better on him than they did on me. I'm only 5'0. Your man was just being silly...he wasn't trying to say, 'Hey, look how big you are!' He was dressing up in your clothes...it just would've been funnier if he'd come out in an entire outfit because it would've been blatantly absurd and obvious silliness.

We are all different shapes and sizes. I'm 5 feet tall and have been this way since, like, third grade. But I'm not petite by any means. So do I feel like a stocky little gnome? No. Do I compare myself to all the normal-sized people? No. Neither of those mind-sets would be conducive to me living a fully healthy lifestyle, because even at a healthy weight, I wouldn't be healthy emotionally. So don't think 'I'm as big as a guy," because you're not as big as every guy in the whole world. Just realize that you're as different and unique as everyone else, and you will never have the body of another person because you're you.
