Catatonic Catharsis

In my usual runs throughout the week I am finding a cathartic rhythm to deal with physical/mental inertia or catatonia (Catatonia is a state of neurogenic motor immobility, and behavioral abnormality manifested by stupor). One reason it seems so hard to reach goals is not because a lack of motivation, but rather the body's response to choices. Running has cured me of my coach potato syndrome in that usually when I'm sitting down it's because my muscles need to rest from all the hard work I've been putting in. Being lazy is no more an option for me because I only rest because I have to. That's my philosophy for dealing with my overwhelming desire to veg out sometimes. If I have energy it needs to be used for improving my health instead of being drained by inertia and wasteful time consuming decisions. So when I rest my focus in eating is to recover (not feel comfort- ice cream after a 5 mile jog isn't helpful), and staying engaged in a mindset of my body healing influences my decision making in terms of sleep, water intake, needed air & sunshine, and living wholistically (spiritually grounded , emotionally stable, mentally sharp, and physically fit).

It sounds like an extereme to me. You CAN eat for pleasure, not necessarily just as fuel for a workout or repair after, but you ahve to do it in moderation. We all got big because of a lack of moderation in our exercise and/or consumption of food. If you go too far the other way, it is not something you can maintain and live a sane life. Sometimes the ice cream after a workout can be a good thing for you mentally. I look at it all as calories in vs. calories out. If I want an ice cream, a big fat steak, or a 6 pack of beer, I have to do the work for it BEFORE I consume it.
