Calf question

I know it's a bit premature as I just started again, but from past experience I've had trouble actually slimming down my calves. My legs are fairly strong and I normally do a lot of walking (well, used to ... working on getting back into that again). My calf muscles end up tight and measurements end up just as thick as ever. I know that, eventually, I will lose some inches there, but in addition to more/better stretching, what workouts might you recommend to thin and lengthen the calves?

Same, thing here. I will be interested to see some of the replys....0

endurance exercises like running & cycling help develop longer calf muscles, but the body burns fat from wherever it needs, so it's best to keep working on that diet to slim them down. good luck.0

I'm curious as well. It will be interesting to see the different responses and advice...0

Running, Stretching, Hiking, Biking, and lots of it. Only way I know of to tone up a calf muscle.0

This is the question I have asked personal trainers, and even my doctor.
The response I always get is that there is no way to spot-reduce fat on your body. I have been "blessed" with really muscular legs and big calves. I've been told that some women have a genetic propensity to hold more fat (or muscle) in their lower legs (thanks, mom), and there isn't much you can do.
My sister is a personal trainer and still can't slim her calves down. You can lower your body fat percentage, or you can buff up other muscles nearby to create contour. And lengthening the muscles (yoga, cycling, running) can help appearance, but there is no way to make them "disappear".0 -

Exactly!
I know my calves respond so quickly to weight training that I purposely do not do calf exercises. But leaning them down means leaning your whole body down.0
