Ok I'm new to mfp, but i've been exercising and dieting for 2weeks now. Should I weigh and measure myself every monday or should I do it the day of the week that i started

You can choose any day you like. I even count days that aren't my normal day from time to time, so personnally my day might move around..others might be more strict. Basically a day when you have time to have a bowel movement first!0

Just pick a day, and keep it consistent.0

It doesn't really matter what day you do it on as long as you keep it consistent. Choose one day of the week and weigh yourself as soon as you wake up and after you have gone to the toilet. Then measure yourself each week or two at the same day and time0

I do it every morning!!!0

you can do it when ever
but make it once a week weigh in and measure about every 2 weeks if you feel like it.
I do Monday. Cause that is the start of the week for me pretty much. then you are more likely to behave yourself over the weekend then to blow it.
you can put it whatever day you like.
if monday best for you then go for that.
there people who do monday, wednesday friday or even sunday.
its your pick ♥
make sure you weigh in the morning after your business0 -
I weigh every morning after I get up and pee. But I try to only record mondays weight.0

I do not measure myself (but I should). I weigh every morning before I get dressed after I have emptied my bladder. Some peole do not agree weighing every day but I do not want to wait a week and see I have gained. I have done this before and it worked for me.0

I find that I hit my lowest weight of the day right before lunchtime, so I just picked one day a week and always weigh myself right before I eat lunch on that day.0

I weigh every morning too, though I try to log on the weekends. I just do it in the morning, since gravity pulls on you the more the day increases, and so you're lightest when you first get up. And I'm wearing a lot less too!0

I don't think it matters as long as you are consistent. I am weighing myself every 2 days to keep me motivated but realise the scales are not the best measurment (measuring is!) because of the inconsistent effect of fluid etc. I have found that I actually weigh less after exercise than before it- so that helps me get out the door for an early morning run!0

I don't weigh myself too often, but I do take measurements every two weeks as for me I find that is more of a positive thing. I have found that from going from no muscle to developing muscle the scale change has not been as drastic as the physical changes. It has been a better move for me as it has helped to keep me positive.
When the scale doesn't move like you think it should be then you can lose motivation.0 -

That's due to dehydration...Hence ultraendurance athletes can be kilograms lighter when they finish than when they start and the greater the difference the more dehydrated you are...0 -

I agree that you should pick a day that works for you and be consistent. I weigh in on Friday mornings because I usually do really well during the week and tend to allow myself a little slack on the weekends (helps me not feel so deprived). I try not to go overboard...just a Pepsi (my liquid crack - LOL) or something sweet that I avoid during the week. Anyway, try not to get obsessed with the scale because there are others ways to measure your progress as well. I don't measure because I didn't start doing it from the beginning but I wish I had. I wish you all the best on your journey:flowerforyou:0

I used to weigh myself every day. However, now I weigh on Fridays and Mondays. I just kinda like to see how I did over the weekend, ya know. Plus, I'm in two weight challenge groups - one weighs on Monday and the other on Friday.
I only check-in and update my MFP stats on Mondays, though. It's an incentive to not go crazy on the weekends.
I also take measurements on Monday morning. I only lost about 5 pounds last month, but I dropped 10.5 inches. If I had been going by the scale alone, I might have given up. But the measurements kept me going.
Edit: I weigh naked, after my morning pee, and before I eat or drink anything. Some folks wait until after the poo, but weighing after the morning pee is good enough for me. I also weigh myself 3 times in a row and do a "best two out of three" kinda thing. One time I stepped on the scale and it told me I was like 10 pounds lighter than I really was. So from now on, I weight multiple times in a row, whichever weight shows up twice is the one I use.0
