I'm now 16 years old. I used to dance when I was very, very little and I loved it but I stopped at the end of elementary school. I love dancing, like ballet/lyrical. I want to start again, but I don't want to join an expierenced group. Is it possible to get private dance lessons to begin again? Am I too old? Thanks :)

try phoning or walking in to dance studios in your area. a lot of people are becoming interested in dance and therefore a lot more classes are springing up for recreational dance. you'll never know until you try... but if it's something you enjoy, you should go for it!

I would LOVE to know the answer to this, I stopped dancing because of an injury couple of years back and now really miss it but not in good enough shape to go back.

Do you have dance central where you live? They do all different types of classes for adult-beginners.

Take a new style of dance. I did ballet and jazz too but I'm way too old (and have short legs but whatever:-). I tried taking the adult "for fun classes" but the other people in the class won't be there for the same reasons as you and will not take it seriously. I started Oriental dance (belly dance) and love it. If you can find the right class (some are more sex focused ex a little cheap, some are performance oriented ex very expensive costume and makeup) I liked the ones that focus on the folk style. Those movements have meaning. It is a woman's dance for women about women. The entire focus should be on the health and integration of your mind, spirit and body. It's amazing.

You could also try ballroom dancing. There seems to be a better age span than ballet.
