Yes, I agree with the previous stated points:
1. There is a difference between coordinated and mismatched.
2. Retailers have caught on to the fact that women like to customize, ergo, selling "separates" in the swimsuit section.
3. Not all women are perfect hourglasses and may wear a different size on top than bottom.
I'm adding:
1. Many women have been educated by fashion magazines to wear a plain unembellished solid on the body part they'd like people's eyes to skim over quickly or minimize (for most women this ends up being the bikini bottom), while wearing a print or embellished item on the body part they'd like to draw people's attention to or visually create the illusion of being larger (again, for most women this is the bikini top).
2. As many retailers sell separates and while it is possible to locate ones that match perfectly (string top & string bottom or sport top & sport bottom, etc.),
a. women find that while the top that makes her rack look awesome, the bottoms that perfectly match it style-wise may be either too conservative, not conservative enough so they get eaten by her crack, poorly lined/colored in case of hemorrhaging emergency, thin enough to show pube texture/shape/absence or risque piercings, too low cut and show her Brazilian/C-section scar or cut granny-panty high, pinch at the sides and create muffin top while the same size in another style doesn't, have too much fabric in the crotch that causes riding up into a camel-toe or sag down creating the tranny with a bad tape-job illusion, etc.
b. women find that while the bottoms that make her body contour smooth, muffin-top free and her *kitten* look pert, the top that matches perfectly style-wise is too small and pornographic, too big and saggy, is poorly lined, embarrasingly thin and susceptabile to frequent "pointing" (many women are self conscious about nips being too wall-eyed, cross-eyed, low, uneven, etc.), padded or not padded enough, creates too much or not enough cleavage, makes a uniboob (sport/bandeau are particularly guilty) or pulls the side-boob in too much diminishing her frontal bust-waist-hip ratio (hourglass appearance), lift too much, sag too much, have uncomfortable straps/ties/hardware, require frequent adjustment of the girls, have soft-cup inserts that migrate unpredictably, give funny tanlines, etc.
c. as you can see above, the list of potential issues goes on and on (and on and on and on and on)
So, yeah... that should about suck all the mystery out of it (sorry ladies and women with mismatched bra & panty sets!). Also it justifies the endless number of reasons to not perfectly coordinate. Women want to look their BEST in swimsuits. We will not tolerate uniboob, muffintop or cameltoe just for the sake of matching to please some guy's OCD preference for perfectly matching style bikinis. So in all truth, we're doing OCD-guy a huge favor. Please appreciate accordingly
Sincerely,

I wear whichever 2 pieces of bikini come out when I reach into the drawer. Hope that relieves you of the mystery. Sorry you're losing sleep over it. I know mismatched bikinis and starving homeless children rank way up there on the list of *kitten* I care about, too.
haha....wow0 -

You know hun...I love you dearly of course...but I'm very, very grateful my only swimsuit dilemma is whether they have an internal pocket for credit cards and id.

There's a difference men can't tell. Mismatched is not the same as coordinating.
Mismatched is a bikini bottom and a dress shirt.
Coordinating are two colours that work together...(and I think it looks better!)
I mean, would you wear a Hawaiian shirt with the same pattern on your pants? And if that answer is yes, please God stop!

Ahhh, this irks me too!!!0
