How many calories in a potato skin? e.g. the skin left over after my kids have scraped the potato from the inside of their baked potatoes?

Thanks

I actually looked this up one time when I was peeling the entire bag of potatoes for mashed potatoes. We weren't eating the skins and didn't want to include them in the calories. They are about 16 calories for 1 oz. of skins. So I measured the amount of skins I had in a bowl on my food scale. I took that amount and subtracted from the calorie count of the peeled potatoes that I weighed. Every 5.3 ounces of potatoes has about 110 calories. (including the skin) Then subtract the skin amount and there you have it.

Ex: You peel 5 pounds of potatoes. Separate the skins. Weigh the potatoes. Every 5.3 oz is 110 calories.

Then weigh the skins. Every 1 oz is about 16 calories. Subtract the skins calories from the potatoes calories and you have your number.

    Hope this helped!
