OCD and weigh-ins

I don't have a scale at home. I've never bought one...and for a good reason. I'm terribly OCD about weighing myself if I have a scale nearby. When I worked at the hospital, I would weigh myself numerous times a day. I know this is not good. So, I've never bought one for home 'cuz I know I will end up right back in that same habit. And I can't afford a gym membership right now, so I can't go in there and use their scale (when I did have a membership....yep, I was at the gym every day...and I weighed myself before and after each work-out). Am I the only OCD one here? Any suggestions? Also, do you think it'd be a good idea to get a tape measure so I can measure myself, to see if I loose inches?

You're not the only one, and yeah a tape measure might be good.

I'm not so sure that measuring throughout the day is so bad though, at least not for me. I have a scale, and check it many times a day. Watching my weight go up or down a few ounces or pounds throughout the day really makes me feel like I can see part of what my body is going through. Sounds crazy, I know, and most people will tell you not to do it...but in my own case, it is a great motivator!

No you are not!!! When I was 21 my ex tossed mine because I would weigh in every hour and it would then dictate just what went on in my day would it lead to lunch a very small salad with a 1/4 grilled chicken breast no bread or would it be a trip to the gym for a hard workout that would last at lest 2 hours. I have after 10 years gotten a scale back and was horrified about the numbers it showed the last number I saw for my self was 100 at 5 foot 9 inches when i next saw a number it was 320. I now weigh in the morning and once at night I get a, one 2 hour workout in a day broken up in to 3 or 4 smaller workouts that are easier to fit in around the kids

I weigh myself every morning and, sometimes after a work-out. however, I have only one official weigh-in day each week...the other weigh-ins are just to make sure I'm not totally screwing something up during the week.

me personally i weigh every morning when i get up it helps me realise that the scales will alter daily but it doesnt reflect the work i put in as long as i do exercise and i eat sensible then the scales are just a guide
  • Thank you everyone, you have all made me feel a bit better about weighing myself!
