Question about exercise and calories

If I exercise and burn over 500 calories in a day, am I supposed to eat those "extra" calories or continue to stick to the normal amount of calories I eat every day anyway? MFP adds my exercise calories to my normal caloric intake which then raises the amount I can eat. Does that make sense?

Yes, you should eat those calories back. You are already reducing the calories that you need to live by going down to the amount that MFP tells you to eat. If you eat less than that, your body can go into starvation mode.

Pretty much I am under the impression that you should try and eat some of them back but not necessarily all of them... :)

Depends if you are using the MFP to set your goal or doing a customer setting...

Seriously read the following to help you understand how MFP works, and the other one talked about 2 different methods (I call it "MFP" method or "typical trainer's method"):

there is so much talk about this...
my thoughts are... weigh & measure everything you eat, don't estimate.
use a heart rate monitor to monitor calories burned.
if you are hungry, eat the exercise calories, but make good healthy food choices. (dont hit the drive through because you had an intense workout).
if you are not hungry, don't worry about eating the calories.

however, in order to do this, you must be in touch with your signals of hunger, which, many people are not and that is what landed them in obeseland to begin with.

i rarely eat all of my exercise calories, but most of the time i do dive into them for a before bed snack. if i don't i usually wake up ravenous with a bad headache and feeling nauseous because i am so hungry.
