My husband and I are going to start walking, possibly jogging, but we don't know what the best shoes are. Does any one have any suggestions for running shoes? (male and female) We aren't made of money so the cheaper the better for now.

You don't need expensive running/walking shoes. But you do need to replace them fairly often, more often if you run vs walk.

As long as they are supportive you can walk in just about anything.
Because running is a high impact sport you really should spend a bit more and get the best ones that you can afford. If you get cheap sneakers your body will not thank you.
I run in Asics, I have a wide foot and these are the only ones Ive found so far that fit comfortably across my toes.

I have, what I refer to as, $10.00 walmart shoes and I LOVE them, BUT my Husband has some generic airwalks from walmart (skateboarder type shoes) and we briskly walked for 1 1/2 miles and he has TERRIBLE blisters on his heels, so he deff needs a diff type of shoe but wasn't really sure what brand or style would be best for him. My problem is my lower back AFTER I walk, it usually doesn't last too long maybe 10 15 mins, hurts. It feels very tight, but I just assume I need some shock absorbing insoles or some Nike shock type shoes...
  • Yep, I agree with Asics. I've had all sorts of back & knee problems over the years & the support is fantastic.

Do you stretch after your walks? That might help with the back pain.
