Coping with not eating out

I've come to realize I can not eat out without going overboard... so new rule: no going out to eat. I'm done.. Not even at work (Taco bell) unless it's a salad with no dressing, etc. I'm done being stupid..
It's hard being busy with work, but I'm done making excuses.. I just wish my husband was more supporting.. He doesn't give a crap about being healthy.. I just need to push myself.. I started this journey and lost 30 lbs, I'm down to 20 lbs down again.. I need to push myself up again.. I feel like I'm a failure on my bad days or when I weigh myself to see I've gained.. I really need some good friends to push me..

I really admire your dedication! You know your limits and your downfalls. Good job for doing what's best. I still eat out, but I try to choose places that have lower calorie options.
I went to Applebee's with my parents yesterday for dinner and they have an "Under 550 calories" sections, with 5-6 different entrees. So I had one of those for 500 calories and was still under my daily limit.
Good luck!0 -
My wife loves to eat out, which causes me the same problems. I have started ordering foods with a lot of veggies (substitute for more veggies if I can instead of potato). Also try to remember to request no "seasoning" on the veggies as it's usually a lot of butter. Another idea is to split your meal in half and take it home; half the calories and half the price.0

My problem is, is if I order it, I end up eating it, and I don't like MOST vegetables cooked... or plain.. I'm the most picky person I know... Which is why I'm much better when I can make it myself or have more control over it0

I completely understand! Right now I'm at home in my parents house for the summer and they like to go to Mexican every friday night. If I go with them - its over. I lose all self-control.
plus I always feel like I have to cook what my mom makes for dinner. She tries to help me out, but usually I walk in too late to stop her from overloading butter and salting up crap.
Last friday when they were going out to eat I completely just said "sorry, I can't afford to go. I'm just tryng to be healthy"
I think it kind of made them feel bad (like I was calling them unhealthy - but I didn't mean it that way).
And working in a restaurant is the WORST for trying to lose weight so that's understandable too! when I worked at a local coffee shop (where we made hot paninis and wraps) I had to pack a lunch or I'd binge on crazy sandwiches made with sourdough bread and pastries!
its hard, I know. but you can do it! I need to work on this too!!!!0 -
ALSO ...i used to HATE vegetables until I bought this steamfresh bad called "Asian Medley"
I seriously ate a bag of those every other day and it helped me like vegetables and I've since ventured out to other steam fresh bags and attempted to cook some of my own! you should try that one though - they sell them at walmart!0 -
raw veggies with hummus are great... and I know the feeling about eating out. I have to bring lunches or I decide to go for the burger, or the sandwich and salad bar that quickly spirals out of control. I'm going to start stashing lean cuisine's at work for emergencies. Some of the vegetable mixes are really good... and you can get some seasonings that are really nice. I have a citrus pepper no salt seasoning that I love on veggies. Or even some lemon pepper stirfry/marinade sauce that I can toss my veggies with for some extra flavour and limited calories.0
