I know this probably sounds like a dumb question. But looking at this Butter has far less calories than olive oil, but that olive oil was a "better" fat...

Am I correct in this thinking?

I know I should just go with salt, but no can do!

Yes, monounsaturated fatty acids in the olive oil. A smidgen of butter, if you really want it, can be worked into your day ( maybe a little butter spray and then salt it?) Enjoy that popcorn.!!

Are you popping it from scratch? Go with the Olive OIl or Coconut OIl. The bags of microwave popcorn have horrible chemicals on the liners - wouldn't use those!

I do the air popper and spritz on a little spray butter and then add a dash of seasoning. Super yummy and not so bad for you.

I've got an air popper! It's fantastic, I'll never go back!
Otherwise, if I was stove popping it there would be no need for anything on top!!

If you're looking for a seasoning the olive oil will work but has a unique taste that can be a bit strong if you're not used to it. Butter contains a lot of fat and sodium.
I usually use spray butter. The popcorn gets a light buttery taste and is moist enough to let your seasonings stick. I normally sprinkle a little garlic powder and grated parmesan cheese.

I have an atomizer (available at any kitchen gadget store, not expensive) that I put the olive oil in. Then I can pump it up an spray it lightly on the popcorn, just like you would spray butter. Better for you, you use less and not quite so strong of a taste.

One of my coworkers used to put olive oil and parmesan cheese on her popcorn. It was quite tasty.

I pop in coconut oil and drizzle a small amount of butter on when it's done and it's delicious! Fat doesn't scare me though. :)

I have to wonder what is "Bad Fat" these days. It seems that more and more science is coming out that what we thought was "bad" is turning out to be pretty good.

I think the only current villain is TransFat.
