i was just wondering, out of curiosity, when you close your food diary at night, and it tells you about in 5 weeks, yeah, you know what i mean, do you log it in your notes, and if so, have you ever gone back 5 weeks from the day, and it actually been accurate ? i started it about 6 or 7 weeks ago, partially to keep track of where i am/been, etc, and partially to see how full of *kitten* it was..well i checked 5 weeks ago from today, and it is RIGHT on the nose..it said i would be 144, and as of this morning, i am ( well technically 143.7) i will never doubt the in 5 weeks thing again  anyone with similar stories, and if so, what was the reaction you had ?

Lol thats good to know! I never really tracked it. I want to now!! The only downside is that my days fluctuate, even though I'm mainly under my calorie goal the level and intensity of my work outs change. But I'm going to dare it to be right! LOL I'm noting it down0

I write it n my notes every day, though I just started a couple weeks ago.
I'm hoping to get to that number sooner, but I've come to realize it's taking a while.
Congrats on your loss!0 -
oh, mine too..that's why i never thought to look until tonight, just out of curiosity..we all fluctuate, and thats why i was leary of it0

I've never written it down. Curious. I just assumed it was wrong. Looking forward to the day it gives me a number in 'ONEderland' though.0

So funny for you to post this, 'cause I just started doing this YESTERDAY for that same reason. I'm dying to see if it works!!0

For me it's pretty close - though there are fluctuations day to day, it's not far off.
The prediction from 5 wks ago said 73.3 today and I'm 73.5 - near enough for me.0 -

Leomom,
I am brand new, today was my first day of tracking! I hadn't even seen that "close" button! Thanks for bringing it up! It is a great inspiration to keep it up!

I rarely have it tell me the same thing 2 days in a row so the whole "if every day were like today" thing is prety meaningless.0

I look at it daily to make sure that I'm consistently burning the same amount of calories every day. But I didn't write down the first day an compare it to 5 weeks later. That would have been a good idea tho! Maybe I'll write down today's and look at it in 5 weeks!0

It's different day to day.
If you are looking at it on a bad day... the weight estimate would be higher than on a good day.
It says "if everyday were like today..."0 -
You could average out all the numbers for a week, and check it five weeks later.
I might try this. It might motivate me.
Honestly, even on my "bad" days, it's still less than what I weigh now. For example, I'm 162lbs, and if I told it that I ate 1500 calories rather than the recommended 1270, it might tell me that I'll weigh 160 in 5 weeks, but that's still better than where I'm at.
I'm also curious how many calories I'd get to maintain. I need to know so I can figure out how much wiggle room I have. If I eat less than 1200 calories, MFP tells me I'm going into starvation mode. However, if I eat more than the recommendation, it puts a huge number in red and tries to draw attention to the fact that I ate something.0 -
Leomom72: I am so glad I searched this topic!
I was wondering that same thing and see I'm not the only one! I LOVE the idea of entering the 5-week projection into my notes. It had never occured to me to track it that way. I am about 5 weeks in and would LOVE to know if the projections from when I first started were on target or way off.
Firberartist219: I agree with you. Even on my "BAD" days it is still less than what I weigh now and even if I go over calorie, I'm still proud of myself because I'm eating way better than I did before MFP - healthier and more portion control.
But the 5-week projection can really motivate you to aim for that 1200 mark. Good Luck to all!0
