Just wondering how many vegans here have protein powders. I used to have them before I became vegan, not that they did much good (or i wasn't using them right?).

I just wanted some opinions from people who do use protein powders, what they use and how they get the most out of them.

THanks

    Hi

I'm veggie and I just started using hemp protein powder yesterday.

Helped me reach my daily allowance which was a first. Its a bit chalky going down but I think I just have to learn to mix it right.

Not sure if there is a such a thing as 'too much' protein powder but I had a total of 4 TBS yesterday in my shakes.

Think I will try it in soups and stews today.

About to start on wheatgrass today.

I use rice protein supplements when I am not eating beans in the day. I am rethinking protein vs carbs vs fat these days so I don't know what the percentages are so I can't help you with what I use it for. I would say to find out what your protein needs are and then take it from there. There is a thread about protein that has a good quote in which you can figure out your protein needs, but I would still see a medical professional.

I just started using a protein powder just about everyday about 12 days ago. I'm using Green Foods True Vitality. I blend it with 2 bananas, ice and a cup of water. It comes in Vanilla, Chocolate or unflavored. I've used the vanilla and chocolate so far. It's not bad tasting and it really satisfies me in the morning. It holds me over quite well until lunch. And I notice a difference on my hunger and cravings when I don't have that shake for breakfast.

I also think it helps me work harder during my workout.

I use a Pea Protein, but I don't use it daily. I only use it when my chemotherapy treatments cause me extreme nausea and I can't keep anything down. I blend it with frozen bananas and make it into like, a milkshake. But I really like the pea protein...it's the best one I've found!
