I am a strong believer in 'healthy eating' and not fad diets.
My weight loss has been slow but steady, now i need help to speed it up.

What do you think is the best diet and why?? (im a vegetarian but happy to hear about all types)

  • I base my actual 'healthy eating' (I'm the same as you, don't believe in diets) on the Dukan diet. Not the SAME as the diet, but things like trimming fat off everything, using my lean mean machine to grill everything, low fat, low sugar etc. I feel like this is the way to go for a sustainable 'diet' for me.

I am vehemently against the word "diet." I think that whatever you do should be something that will help you lose weight in a healthy way, at a healthy pace, and long time sustainable.

What you want to avoid, in my opinion, is any very low calorie diet that triggers the "starvation response." Also - are you exercising? I really believe exercise - especially for women - has to be a part of the solution. The smartest book I have read is by Tom Venuto - Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. I love the solid information he gives on food intake. Then, I'm doing Shin Otako's (apologize for spelling) workouts - which have made me introduce intervals into my cardio - which I had done years ago when I ran, but now I bike ride. In my opinion, you should be going for 2 pounds/ week - which is possible on this site.

There is no diet.. it's a more of a lifestyle change.

You want slow and steady weight loss.. anything too quick and all thats going to happen is that you'll gain some of it back. Just keep eating healthy(whole grains, fruit, veggies, and what ever meat you can), drink lots of water and you'll be just fine.
