Just wondering about the artificial sweetener, "Splenda" ? I want to start using it, but have heard that it is not that good for you.

Has anyone done any research on the subject?

  • i was a splenda and artificial sweetener nut... but, after reading over and over again that it isn't that good for you.. i switched to a natural sweetener. i bought truvia packets. give those a try!
  • Agree - Stevia, truvia (a brand of Stevia) is suppose to be way better for you - I get headaches from aspratame and a few others so I avoid all "fake" sugars - agave is good for coffee and teas b/c it's so sweet you hardly use any - google sweet poison, there's a site by that name that has a ton of info....some are safer than others but I can't remeber which are and it depends where you're looking, I avoid them personaly.

    Good - low calorie
Bad - controversial on side effects including weight gain, toxicity and others

The only sweetener I use is pure Stevia. Either "SweetLeaf" brand, which comes in a granulated form, or NuNaturals, which comes in a liquid form. Although Truvia is Stevia, it is not pure Stevia, and has erythritol.
