What's Your Short-Term Motivation?

I know a lot of us have longterm motivation, like a long, healthy life or running a marathon... But I want to know what keeps you going day to day. Even if it's silly... Like a date on Friday or a doctor's appointment with a weigh-in next week.

For me, coming off a busy 3-day weekend where I ate out every day (sometimes twice), I was kind of out of the healthy habits I've been working so hard at for the last few weeks and was staggering my way back in to my routine. Last night, I was asked to be a model for a "steampunk" photoshoot with some professional costume designers. The shoot in in a little over a week, so I'm making sure to stick with my goals so I can be energetic and have fun with it.

Obviously, no miracles are going to happen in a few days, but little things like that keep me going sometimes. What about you?

Every Sunday at church people ask me "How much have you lost?" Keeps me going through out the week!

This is going to sound ridiculous and vain -- but I bought this really cute pair of camo pants at Target back in April. During that time I really thought they would fit me. Got home to try them on and I couldn't even button them (even lying down on the bed!). I haven't been able to wear them all summer and I am DETERMINED to get into them before Labor Day!

Hot Date with my Husband Saturday night this week, waterslides with a bathing suit in public next week...there's always a good reason to go out of my way to feel better :o)

To fit perfectly in my jeans this winter without the muffin top, lol. Also, I have some nice sweaters that I can't wait to wear.

I started out with very idealist goals of healthy life, not going through the pain my mom has gone through all exacerbated by weight, but now I think I've just become vain.

Visiting Mom,Dad and siblings in two weeks. Mom has always been critical (and blunt) so I push myself so that I can look different enough that Mom will notice and say something positive. It's a stretch, but its motivation!

Song lyrics! I love listening to my kind of motivational music. I even have a playlist dedicated to up-beat songs on my iPod. This morning I put it on shuffle and up popped the song Fall Into Me by the band Hey Monday. Here's the line:

"Somehow everything in me is changing
In the most amazing kind of way."

Another of my favorites is the song Weightless by the band All Time Low:

    "Maybe it's not my weekend
But it's gonna be my year
    And I've been going crazy
    I'm stuck in here"

"Here" being my current state of chub.

But if that doesn't pep you up I don't know what will!

Love hearing all of these! Keep them coming!

@LeCitron -- Music motivates me, too! I am such a lyrics person.

For those who are inspired by lyrics, I just posted this morning (August is my B*tch: Day 2) about how the song Strip Me by Natasha Bedingfield is my motivator. The lyrics gave me chills while I was working out this morning -- I real feel good song!
