Lend Me Some Sugar?

I was wondering everyone's view on sugar. Im scared of getting into the red, and even though I avoid sugary drinks, candy, etc, I still come close or go over because Ill have a piece of fruit or some yogurt. So, does it matter if you go over on sugar if its from healthy things such as fruit? Or, does sugar hurt weight loss no matter where it comes from?

This question is asked very frequently on these forums, and there are a variety of answers.
The general consensus is that sugar from fruits is harmless. The kinds you should avoid are processed or refined sugars--added sugars. So maybe yogurt sugar isn't the best... try getting it plain and adding honey or fruits to get the less-harmful sugars. Don't worry too much about going over.0 -
I worry about sugar only because of a family history with diabetes, my own personal addictive tendencies with the stuff (I can eat sugar until the cows come home and still want more...), and the fact that it's nigh onto poison with how much it can screw up my system (soaring highs followed by tremendous crashes)...
But if you're getting fruit from good sources (fruits, veggies, milk) I wouldn't worry. I'd maybe check that yogurt, though... some yogurts are mostly syrup and refined sugar so that they actually taste good.0 -
I blow my sugar goal away day after day after day.
I can't believe that one medium banana counts as 16g of sugar. And a peach for 13. WTF. I LOVE fruit. I could eat fruit all day.
I am guilty of adding sugar to my tea, so I've cut back from 3 mugs a day to 1.
I also like a certain type of yogurt that has sugar. I'm going to have to try some other kinds to lower my numbers there. Other than my tea and yogurt, I don't eat a lot of added sugar. Its the fruit sugar that kills me.0
