Healthy mexican restaurant suggestions?

My family is going to a Mexican restaurant for dinner tonight, and I feel like this is going to cause a "being healthy" struggle. Does anyone have any suggestions for a healthy option? I looked at the menu, but they don't have nutritional info...I'm thinking portobello mushroom fajitas and leaving out the cheese, rice, and sour cream. Any other ideas?

    Fajitas are a good choice.

As is grilled chicken, rice, and black beans - sometimes it's called Pollo Azado; sometimes it's called Plato Mexicano; otherwise just ask for "grilled chicken, rice, and black beans".

Grilled chicken fajitas are always a good option. Just ask for the trimmings (sour cream, cheese, etc) on the side. If you can, ask for grilled veggies too.

Try and limit your tortilla chip intake (hard, I know ...). You can do it!!

The best way to limit how many tortillas you eat is to not eat a single one. I know this from experience

    I agree.

Also, stay away from chips and queso dips! Those are super high in calories.

Salsa and fresh veggies are good toppers for anything. (Salsa is high in sodium, but very low in calories)

You could also get half of the rice replaced with lettuce for lower carbs and calories.

Corn tortillas are a good low calorie option for your fajita tacos!! I save my flour tortillas for my mama's!!

Holy Moses! There are only two things that I crave daily since I started my journey last November...pizza and mexican food. I have avoided Mexican food all this time as I know I will not be able to help myself. I have pizza just a handful of times.

I am 3 pounds away from my goal weight...guess where I am going when I hit 175...MEXICAN!!!!

Sorry, can't help you on healthy choices...I just stay away unless it is a super special reason.

I usually just get a grilled chicken salad sprinkled lightly with cheese. It is delish and healthy!

If they have an option for a mexican salad (your choice of meat, beans, rice, lettuce and pico) If not you could get a taco salad minus the shell. Chicken tortilla soup is always a good choice.

Fajitas are good. Mostly I would say, split the entree with someone to save calories. And if you have the will power, don't EAT THE CHIPS. Good luck.

This is true for me, also.
