rant rant rant!!!!
So here is my rant:
I hate when people dump animals wherever and just think they will survive:explode:
To start we live on a farm and the closest other place is probably a mile away. Saturday night I went to take my dogs out to go to the bathroom, this was about 12 at night and had just been out with them at 10 also. Well I hear the meowing, so I take them back in and then go to look for the kitten and it is just meowing and meowing. So I get there and there is this 7 or 8 week old kitten and it races to me. Now I know somebody dumped it as it is not wild and is not scared of my dogs or my other cats. This pisses me off to no end.:explode: A kitten that young has no chance of surviving in the middle of a field, so why the hell would you dump it????:grumble: The people that do this kind of thing I would LOVE to take them and throw them in the middle of nowhere with nothing!!!:explode:
end rant:drinker:

People do this all the time. Birds, cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, hell even chickens. "Oh, their instincts will take over...." BS.0

this makes me sick. I have no tolerance for people who abuse animals. Thank goodness for you!0

My ex and I got into a discussion (read: argument) about this. His theory is that they are "wild" animals and can take care of themselves and would be much happier to be free than stuck in a shelter where they could end up dead. And if they are cute enough, they will find a new home and life will be a Disney movie. He isn't a very smart guy. I'm sure there are many who think the same thing, and then there are those who just don't really care, they just don't want to deal with the animal anymore themselves. One of the saddest things I hear about is one of my daughter's friends parents have rent houses. Invariably when they have renters move out they have to get over there right away because the renters have left a dog or cat in the yard. This happens to them a lot. It's pretty heartbreaking.0

This is the reason I've worked in rescue for years. All of my dogs are rescues....one of which I found in the middle of the road because I almost hit her. It pisses me off to no end that people can justify leaving an animal in need....they are not wild...they have been domesticated. Ugh.0

Plain stupid. :mad:0

Depressing. Poor kitty0

Yeah, look at all the road kills and tell me their "wild instincts will take over and they'll be fine."
That's how my family got all our cats, actually. My parents live out on the edge of town, and people dump pets all the time. One morning when mom let the dog out to do her business, this pretty little kitten just walked right in like she owned the place. She kept doing that 'til Mom & Dad just decided to go with it. They took her to the vet, and turns out she was an undersized pregnant female, the owners must have dumped her when they found out she was pregnant. How heartless! But my brother and I each took one of her kittens, so this time it had a happy ending. But without us, the poor thing was obviously used to being taken care of, and would have died. Hard to believe people could be so cruel.0 -
:noway: I hate people in general that harm animals grrrrr:mad:   :explode: :grumble:0

:frown:  This makes me so, so sad...animals are people too.0
-
I saw a red-eared slider in the river on my run today. Abandoned.
People are cruel and think they are more important than everything else. Sadly, I don't see this changing anytime soon.0 -
I tend to hate people who hurt animals more than any other person. I like animals more than people.
We, as humans, are tasked with the care and responsibility of the planet's animals, imo. We're doing a terrible job.0 -

UGH don't even get me started! It is just infuriating how ignorant some people can be!0 -
I always want to scream GET YOUR CAT FIXED!!!!! If more people would do this, the problem wouldn't be as big as it is. But people are stupid and think that it is easier and cheaper to get rid of hundreds of batches of kittens than to fix it. Disgusting:grumble:0
-
This irritates me as well. There was a horrible story just yesterday about a kitten and someone tossing it out a window.
If I EVER saw anyone abuse an animal, I don't know if I could keep myself from abusing them. Makes me so sad.0 -
Stories like this always break my heart....thank goodness there are still people like you in the world. In the UK recently some sick woman actually picked up a cat off a garden wall and put it in a dustbin. Unbelievable.0

In our area we have an obscene amount of people who dump their animals on bridges or highways. It's disgusting imo to dump your animal anywhere, but you know that when someone dumps them on a 4 lane bridge/road that they're intentionally trying to kill that animal. People can be so sick.0
-
That is absurd. I agree completely with you.
I also believe people need to spay or neuter their pets (no exceptions!).0 -
Guilty.
When I met my wife, she had a dog that wouldn't stop digging around the gas lines. Didn't want to take her to the pound and possibly get euthanized, so I took her for a ride to a residential area with lots of familes and turned her loose.
Had a cat that kept scratching me, too. Took it for a ride to a local park and turned it loose.
Same thing with a second cat. Took it for a ride to a local park and turned it loose.
Wife and kids never said a word about it. Didn't want to go for a ride.0 -
I have friend that lived out in the country and people were constantly dumping dogs and cats. My black lab is a rescue, she was found wandering the streets, and I have 4 cats that were all strays. I have a soft spot for the furbabies...it's a shame some people treat their animals like garbage. We found a puppy once, he was the cutest little thing, and he had barbwire wrapped around his neck. He did end up finding a good home to go to, so there was a happy ending.0

I worked as a vet tech for almost 8 years and sadly this way to common. People need to learn to be responsible and spay and neuter their pets!! If you dont want your pet give it to a shelter, The survival rate is much high for them there!!! When turned loose and left you might can tell yourself someone will pick them up and take care of them but the fact is that pet will probably only live days with no water and no food they will starve or die of thirst and thats if they dont get ran over, hurt or beat up by other wondering animals!
People are so clueless they think that when they get a pet it will take care of its self or that it will automatically behave, They are just like children you have to teach them, love them and spend time with them for them to learn.0 -
My cat's breath smells like cat food0

I saw that one. What a biotch. :mad:0 -
I couldn't agree more! This is one of my soapboxes! A pet is a lifelong commitment...no matter what! One of my most beloved cats was a tripod kitty who kept peeing in the corners of our house. I kept him because I knew he would have never been adopted. All our pets from then on have been rescues. Our latest kitty was found in the local park at 3 months of age...riddled with worms and had a big grub-worm embedded in his little neck. They really didn't think he'd make it. Quite clearly he was a pet someone just dumped. It was touch and go and that shelter gave him all the medical care he needed to become a healthy kitty. He is a perfect example of why the shelter is a far better choice than the wild. He nearly died from being dumped. But thanks to our local shelter, now he's a big furry spoiled tuxedo beast.0

I might be a crazy dog mom but it makes my blood boil to think anyone could ever hurt domestic animal like that. Seriously?? Now I want to go home and give my dogs a big wet kiss on the nose0

This.... For sooo many people they are something to have but when it doesn't behave or do things they think it shouldn't it gets thrown out without anyone even trying to find a solution.
We got a chihuahua from somebody and he would pee on everything if you didn't watch him like a hawk. But we continued on and kennelled him and such when we couldn't watch him and now he's pretty good. The people we got him from said they just hated to kennel anything, so what? you just get rid of it before trying anything? Ridiculous what kind of excuses people come up with just so they don't have to deal with things. Just goes to show with perserverance and patience you can get through things without throwing them out the door.0
