the brothers and sisters in blue will have to mourn while still going to work everyday, and with the sturgis rally starting in 6 days, they will have to do it all while working longer shifts and more shifts due to missing staff.
in addition, 4 other officers died this weekend during the course of their job.
so much violence.

Oh my! I am so sorry. They have my utmost respect, and right now my prayers for their safety and for their emotional health. I cannot even begin to imagine.0

My father was a policeman for years. First in Battle Creek, MI, then undercover narcotics in Naples, FL. He would very rarely tell some stories of the race riots in the 1960s that made my hair stand up. Apparently, cops would be set up. A fake domestic call would be made (because back in that time only one cop responded to domestic calls). When the cop arrived, he would be shot. My dad responded to one of those calls and was so nervous he had his gun on his lap, rather than in the holster. When he went to step out of the car, he looked up and someone had a gun trained on him. The guy lost his nerve and ran away. If he hadn't run away, my dad would have been shot. It's so easy to deride cops, but their jobs are incredibly dangerous.0

My husband was a cop for a while. He got hired at a Natcostics agent, but funding fell through and he was let go before he ever started. I was so relieved. We had just had a baby. I did not make a good police officers wife. Now, we live in the country, on a farm running a chicken farm. Our lives are so simple now and love know ing that he is coming home every night. My heart goes out to all the families involved. PRAYERS0

I have a lot of close ties to Rapid. My heart goes out to them. Not the kind of place you would ever expect this to happen.0
