this is a muscle question for any trainers out there.
i hear that it takes a certain amount of time for building/strengthing your muscle after you start use weights, before your muscles/body begin toning. what is that time frame? i hope you understand what iam asking.
thanks, chipper

Building strength and building muscle are two separate phenomena.

Initial increases in strength involve changes in the nervous system, not the muscle. Basically, your nervous system changes to make it easier for your muscles to contract.

You won't experience anatomical changes in the actual muscle for 4-6 weeks. At this point, hypertrophy, or muscle growth, can take place.

However, whether you SEE those changes depends on whether you have enough calories available to cause measurable growth and whether you have lost enough body fat to better see the muscles beneath the skin. If you're in a deficit, you won't have measurable growth for months, although you may be using calories from fat in order to spare protein for muscle growth in minuscule amounts. So you'll most likely experience a reduction in your size as your body fat decreases, allowing you to see the muscles under the skin more easily.
