Okay, so yesterday I came here with a similar question. I got an HRM and a chest strap that goes with it. I placed it on very snugly this time to do my workout.
This is my first work out which was shadow boxing
21mins
Avg HR: 167
Minimum HR: 114
Peak HR: 188
Cals burned: 391
This was my second work out, which was all cardio:
31mins
Avg HR: 174
Peak HR: 194
Min HR: 110
627 Cals
I am thinking it is kind of right, considering yesterdays....any thoughts? Opinions?

Thanks for replying...anyone else?
So I did Jillian's 6 week ab workout, my HRM said my Avg heart rate was 164 and peak HR was 193 and minimum HR was 111 and I did this for 33 mins and burned 595 calories, does this seem right? I mean I have used my HRM for three days and my avg HR usually stays between 160-167
I am guessing it is right, anyone else have any say? :P0 -
Wow you are getting some good burn. It seems too good to be true. I dont have a heat rate monitor so i just go by what MFP says and i dont eat it all back becasue i dont really know.0

I never eat them back, too....just in case. I just add 300 cals to my daily goal if I did 30 mins. :P
Anyone with an HRM who can help shed some insight.0 -
Unfortunately, your numbers sound like they are significant overestimates. . At your weight, you would have to be working at the level of an Olympic distance runner to achieve that level of "burn".
Most HRMs can accurately measure heart rate--it's converting that number into an accurate calorie estimate that they fall off. At your weight (75kg), you would have to be very fit and working at a pretty high level to burn even 750 cals/hour-not the 1100-1200 numbers you are seeing.
Most people report calorie expenditures of 175-240 calories for a 30 day shred workout. I wouldn't think the ab workout would even make it that high.
I suspect you need to tweak your HRM setup info.0 -
I don't know what to think, it is frustrating. I wanted the HRM so I could put the correct amount of calories in and it isn't even reading it right. I set it up, put my weight, height, age, gender...I just don't understand what is going on.0

Just outta curiosity what kind of HRM do you have?0
