Worst craving time

Ugh. I don't know if my blood sugar crashes or some other hormone spikes in my brain or what. But between 3-5 is my absolute worst snacking time. I can't control myself. I see it. I want it. I eat it. No control. I say it's my worst time - but that's only because late evening, well, I can get around those wicked cravings by going to bed early.
I try to prepare for it, eating higher protein meals at lunch, having healthy, quick snacks on hand and trying hard not to keep crap food in the house. But even healthy stuff is bad for you when you can't put it down and portion control is a joke. And I find that the more I eat, the hungrier I am.
My food diary is all over the place. Some days are really good, meal-wise. But the consistent thing is my snacking. It's terrible. And I'm reaching for sugar and junk that's doing nothing to fill me up. It fills an immediate emotional need, but does nothing long term, except cause more problems and cravings.
I've just adjusted my MFP goals to lose 1 lb a week, allowing me 1320 calories per day. I'm hoping with a bit more 'freedom', I won't feel so bad about my terrible snacking, which only leads me to say "I've already crossed today's line. What's another 100, 200, 300 calories over? But this could severely backfire. I'll try it for a couple weeks.
Any suggestions? My diary is open, check out the last few days and critique me, offer suggestions or tips. I already know my eating isn't stellar, that won't come as a surprise!
I need to plan outings in the afternoon. But carefully, as the second I come through the door, if supper's not ready, I'll plow through 500 cal in snacks because I'm shaky and ravenous. I need to get this under control NOW because I go back to school full time in September. Meal planning and timing is going to be so crucial then.

Try eating something low cal that will take awhile to munch on...mini bags of popcorn...luna/clif/fiber one bar...veggies and hummus...fudge pop...definitely take a walk, read a magazine, take a nap, chew some gum..some kind of activity that will distract your mind!0

Well still can't see your diary, but chances are, I think, that you get sugar cravings.
If you do also have blood sugar crashes, I would suggest aiming to eat higher fat in general. It doesnt impact blood sugar as much, and you need to keep sweets out of your diet in order to get over your cravings.
I'd even suggest limiting fruit for a while. They'll only fuel your sweet craving. Just stop with anything sweet.0 -
Most definitely get sugar cravings. Have done a candida diet several times in the past 6 years. ND says my system to so bad that I need to come off of sugar/wheat/dairy/etc for a 1 year minimum.
I try. But I fail. I can't pinpoint what catalyst I need to get me motivated. Depression and moaning about it aren't helping, that's for sure!
Currently am trying to get back into a 30 Day candida cleanse I started (did 2 days, a month ago.)0
