That's an eating disorder. Bulimia can cause diarrhea, constipation, and other intestinal problems. The acidic content of vomit damages the teeth and the esophagus. It can cause stomach ulcers and sores inside the mouth., it's not a good way to lose weight. It's not safe or healthy.0

whoa whoa whoa friend....first off I need you to STOP making yourself throw up. That is by NO MEANS healthy!!
You didn't gain the weight over night so there is no way that you can lose it over night.
It's a slow process and at times it is incredibly painful...but you must forge on!
There is a wonderful community here who will support you and cheer you on.
You need to eat and you need to keep the food down and not allow yourself to throw it up.
After a little while it will get easier and do not rely only on the scale...take your measurements and see how your clothes will start to fit differently.
I hope I helped...but really I hope you will stop making yourself throw up.0 -
i just feel like its never gonna happen. no matter what i manage to never lose weight at all. i feel like the only way i can lose it is if i dont eat or get rid of it. i lost thirty pounds and now ive gained it all back and then some.0

maybe try finding a buddy to go thru this with you. Someone who can ride you about what you're eating and making sure you are working out etc...sometimes you just need that little extra push.
Also you have to think of this as a lifestyle change not a diet or quick fix...
Changing the way you think and your relationship with food is a good place to start...0 -
That's an eating disorder and eating disorders are really not at all about your weight. You really need to find someone you can talk to about this- a doctor or professional. It's very dangerous to do that to your body and it WILL NOT cause any kind of maintainable weight loss. good luck :flowerforyou:0

Take it from someone who has been battling bulimia for 5 years now...It doesn't work, and it DESTROYS your health. I am so worried about heart/internal problems, but I keep putting off the doctor because I'm scared to know. If you're anything like me, facts about the damage you will do to your body by throwing up don't mean anything compared to the weight loss "benefits" you could reap from this destructive act, so let me try a different route.
When you purge, you only get out about 30% of the calories you've taken in. Also, regular binging and purging gives you a puffy face and marks around the mouth that are not attractive. And 3, at the time that my bulimia was the worst, I was actually the heaviest I've ever been.
Take my advice and STOP NOW before you're too far in. Lose weight the right way...The healthy way. Not only does it work better, it doesn't hurt you the way throwing up does.
If you ever need to talk to someone, PM me...I'd love to answer questions or help you in any way.0 -
I had that problem for years (10) and convinced myself that I was getting rid of all the calories. It's taken me a long time to stop doing that and be okay with feeling full. First off, you don't really get rid of them, somewhere I read that MAYBE you get rid of 30% of the calories. That's why most bulemics are average weight or just above normal weight. No wonder I never lost weight doing this. I even had to have an endoscopy because I thought I did some damage. It's not worth it. Honestly, it made me more secrative around my family and husband, it smells, and made me feel terrible about myself. Please don't start this dangerous, wasteful, and pointless habit! Eating more healthfully and exercising is so much more rewarding. I had to train myself to stop expecting everything to happen instantly-it's hard but possible.
Post note-After reading the above topics I see too that someone else read the same stat about 30%-that was such a disappointment for me to hear when I read it awhile back. Made me feel terrible about all those binges!0 -
I've never actually gotten to the point of purging (I absolutely DESPISE throwing up so that is probably the only thing that has kept me from it) but I do feel the same way. Any time I lose weight I gain it all back plus some more. I'll keep at a routine, lose weight and then veer off course. I've started the same thing so many times but I never stick to it and I really don't think I ever will. I start many things I never finish and no matter how much I try, that doesn't change. Why would it be different with losing weight?0

Many of us have walked the dangerous path you are taking.
If it worked none of us would be here.
It is dangerous and does more damage to you then you can see right now, not just physically but mentally as well.
You need to change your mindset. Weight does not suddenly appear on our bodies (usually) it gradually creeps on while we aren't paying attention. It's not going to go away quickly just because we want the results now. It surely will not go away permanently with"diet" tricks and starvation.
There are sooo many examples here of people who are doing this process and having amazing results. However, they are FOLLOWING the process (for the most part I presume) and not doing anything drastic or harmful along the way.
You need to eat the calories it says, ALL of them.
You need to be active and you need to eat THOSE calories, because MFP already is accounting for a HEALTHY weight loss.
You need to drink LOTS of water AT LEAST 64 oz a day.
You need to cut out the junk.
This is achievable, but you need to approach it in the mindset of a lifestyle not some crash diet to fit into an outfit. That's not what this is about. Get help if you continue the eating disorder, spare yourself the struggles many of us have had to face over the years because we started that unhealthy habit.
Remember, you are very young still and your body may not be done adjusting.
Don't do things now that will mess with your future, please.

Dude, I've been there.
A young girl in high school, bombarded by the media to be firm and toned and sexy. To feel fat and ugly and to have thinner friends who seem to get all the guys. And at the end of the day feel completely lost and hopeless and unsuccessful and depressed, and wish there was a quick fix to make all of this melt away.
Dude, I've soooo been there.
But I never purged, I hate throwing up. I can't imagine MAKING myself do it. It's a gross habit, stinky, messy and secretive, and not healthy at all.
Starvation or vomiting are eating disorders, they are mental and physical illnesses that destory your body, take alot of recovery time, and DO NOT give you the body you want. Purging only gets rid of 30% of your calories (Thanks MFP members for the tip!), and so your obviously not losing that much weight. Starvation will either make you a bag of bones (not sexy), or you'll snap and binge worse then ever before.
The only way to do this is healthy eating and excersize! Comeon! We are young and able and have the rest of our lives to look amazing! Whats the rush?
You can't ace a test if you don't study a few days before.
You can't become a professional cheerleader or dancer or singer without practicing endlessly.
You can't become thin overnight without eating healthy and burning off the calories.. no matter how much it sucks!
So be patiant, it will come.
Good luck, message if you ever need to chat0 -
First off, I totally agree with everyone that throwing up is not going to help you achieve long term weight loss and is dangerous.
There is one other point I would like to add based on my experience and I apologize in advance if it sounds harsh.
You need to be honest with yourself about why you are the size you are and why you are not losing weight. I had a lot of excuses why I couldn't lose weight - "I'm too busy to exercise", "I don't eat that bad", "I'm big boned", "It runs in the family", "I get enough exercise in my daily routine", etc... After reflection I found that everything I was telling myself was a lie and that these excuses were hindering me from achieving my goals of becoming healthier and happier. When I began to log what I ate I found not only was I not make choices as healthy as I thought, but that my portions were out of control and that I was not properly fueling my body. In fact, I found that often I was not eating enough and causing myself to gain weight by only eating one or two meals a day. I now try to be as honest with myself as possible. That doesn't mean I can't treat myself, but I need to know and own the consequences of my actions. I got myself into this mess by making poor choices and now I am getting myself out of it. I have found this philosophy liberating and I have lost a total of 75lbs. You can reach your goals too! Just stay true to yourself and don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
I use to be so ashamed when I was at the gym. I thought everyone was looking at me and thinking "look at that fat girl at the gym making a fool of herself." However, I realized that isn't what people are thinking and even if they are I would rather be the fat girl trying to improve herself that the fat girl not trying too.
I hope this helps. Good luck.0
