I've added vanilla protein powder to vanilla regular yogurt, but I prefer the texture of Greek yogurt. I've never bought the plain Greek yogurt, so I'm not sure if/how this would work, but I have some chocolate protein and some cookies and cream protein. Has anybody tried this? I'm hoping for something that's at least a little dessert like. Also, what's a good brand of Greek yogurt? I usually buy flavored Oikos organic, but they're kind of expensive. Thanks!

I do it! I only have vanilla and it mixes in great. I use everything from Chobani to store brands like Kroger. I won't say it's desert like, but its a super quick meal loaded with protein.

I like to eat my greek yogurt plain... but I will say I like Fage 2% better than any other plain greek yogurt I've found.

I haven't tried protein powder, but my favorite greek yogurt is Fage 2%.

+1 for plain Fage 2%. Never thought about mixing protein powder in but will have to try it. I just usually add fresh blueberries, raspberries, or honey instead of buying the flavored kind.

I tried mixing it with some cookie dough flavored protein powder (it's all I could find in the house at the time) and I ended up eating 2 bites and throwing it out. I think that might have been mainly the protein powder though. I'm going to try it later with a higher quality protein powder (vanilla) and see if it's any better.

I'd think a vanilla flavor or another "traditional" (chocolate? strawberry?) flavored powder would work best (if it's going to work), as those flavors can be good yogurt flavors naturally.

Was it just the taste or was texture an issue? Just curious.

Mainly texture and the taste was a little off. I think the main problem was that the protein powder was one of those that tastes kind of powdery anyways. I use Jay Robb vanilla and it mixes very well with water and milk, as does the GNC brand, so that's what I'll try later after my run.

I asked the same question to my MFP friends a couple days ago. I'll go give it a try and see how it turns out!

half a scoop of body fortress protein into a 6 oz yoplait plain Greek yogurt... Doesn't taste all that great. Maybe a 1/4 scoop would have been better lol

    A for effort, 1-up!

My first thought is texture will be a problem because many powders are hard to mix unless you blend them. I assume you're just trying to stir them in?

Wish I had a suggestion. The idea of using a very small amount of the powder first sounds like a good idea.

Slightly aside, but to bump up the protein in my yogurt, I add 1/2 or a full ounce of raw almonds. Almonds have a sweetness to me, so I like them in the yogurt.

Ok, I added half a scoop of Jay Robb vanilla protein powder to a 6 ounce container of Kroger plain Greek yogurt, along with a splash of vanilla and almond milk and a bit of splenda. I wish I'd either had some raw honey or agave instead, but it was actually really good. I'm going to try and mix some chocolate powder in next time.
