I was once told that the BEST exercise is the one you will DO. but as for quickly burning 500 calories I would have to GUESS the eliptical machine just from what I have seen others do0

So far the best exercise for me with the most amount of calories used is Tae bo or Turbo Jam .0

Run for 20 minutes. Then lift weights for another 20 minutes.0

Open road bicycling-10/12MPH bout 800 cal/hour.
Ice Hockey-depending on skill level 700-1400 cal/hour0 -
bike riding or swimming0

Here's the thing... anything can burn off 500 calories pretty quickly, depending on how you do it. If I'm on the treadmill speed-walking at an incline of 4 or so, I can burn 500 pretty fast. If I'm on the elliptical, on high resistance and going fast, I can burn 500 pretty fast. Zumba burns 500 a little slower than those two options, but I'd MUCH rather do Zumba than walk on the DREADmill.
Like the other poster said, the best exercise is the one you will do.0 -

i read recently that simply taking 10,000 steps a day will burn 500 calories. strap on a pedometer and get walking. that's what i do! easy way to burn 500 calories! good luck...0

cycling class ( but depends on the amount of hills and speed ups you do)0

Like others have said... the best exercise is one you enjoy. What's the point if you don't enjoy it?
You won't burn 500 calories quickly if you don't work hard, sweat up a storm and are out of breath. I did a 30 minute walk/jog workout last night that only burned 306 and I was pooped afterwards. You're going to have to put in an hour's worth of SOMETHING to get the burn.0 -
Also depends on your weight, my friend is very tall and according to his meter on the bike he burns 700-800 per class, where I'll burn 500 or so ( I am less then 130 lb)0
