My fiance and I are currently living with his mom while our house is being renovated and each morning she watches me get up around 7ish to go to the gym 5 days a week. This morning she asks how much I've lost since working with the trainer and was impressed. She says she can't/won't ever lose weight because she wouldn't want to continue to work hard to maintain it. I laughed it off but in my head I'm thinking WTH? This isn't temporary for me, its forever!

Nothing worth having in life comes easy.
I hope she is healthy despite that kind of attitude!

That is right! Forever! And you may be the very one to show her that it can be a forever thing. She seems to be quite interested. I won't give it very long and she will be in the gym woth you :-)

Don't worry Kitty! I don't think that was a judgment on you, I think your MIL is just sad about her own weight and saying her excuses out loud. Maybe she'll eventually want to come to the gym with you and change her tune. It's hard for people, esp. older folks, to change there way of thinking once they've given up/resigned themselves to something that's not working in their lives. Easier to believe that they can't do something then to try and fail. I'm sure we've all felt that way at some points. Maybe you'll be her good example for her.

But hell! If my husband can join MFP finally then anything is possible. :)

If there's something I have learned from my weight loss journey is that it's not easy. It will take work always but the rewards are worth it. Mil are always evil lol I know I have a really bad one.

Bahahaha! Funny that you say this because I've felt the same about her but she has been so generous in letting us stay with her and not pay for anything so I really have to work on things.
