Blood type Diets...do they work???

Hey everyone, I was working out in the gym the other day and this guy I see in there often, we get into a converstation and he randomly brings up blood types, and how certain diets affect different blood types. I've looked into it some online but haven't been able to find a lot of research about it. I guess there are even specific workouts for blood types. Just wanted to know if any of you had heard anything or knew anything about it???

There's no scientific logic or evidence behind blood type diets.
They may work for some people because, like any fad diet, they make you pay attention to what you eat and because they place some restrictions on what you eat (which could, by chance, happen to be things you eat too much of).0 -
I have researched it throughout my university studies and there is no actual scientific literature in peer reviewed journals to support it. So I would be pretty confident in saying no...0

I would think a diet based on blood type is about as useful and one based on eye color.0

There's a book on it, I can't remember the name.
I've noticed that when I eat the O+ diet (my blood type, higher proportion of red meats than some), I feel better. If I try to cut meat out, especially red meat, I don't feel so good. And my SIL has said she's felt better when following her A+ diet (very little meat, lots of veggies). But of course, that's only anecdotal records.
I have no idea what it does for weight loss. You could see if the library has the book, maybe.0 -
I had people tell me about this, and when they said that my blood type should not eat berries, I knew it had to be an insane plan. When I was pregnant, the only thing that stayed down was cold water and berries.
And I am kind of amazed that there are so many questions about "diets" on this web site. I thought people who join this website are people who want to change the way they eat sensibly for the rest of their life, not go on a "diet".0 -
Your diet is what you eat. If you eat sensibly for life, then you are on a sensible diet.
A way of eating that is not sensible and has short term goals is a fad diet (or simply an unhealthy one).0 -
I was just curious to hear what others thought about it. I've check it out myself and was surprised to find that the characteristics of someone with A blood type were actually very much like me. I don't do "fad" diets I just eat healthy. Was an interesting topic though.0

My cousin has had some serious skin issues and swears by this "Diet by Blood Type". He doesn't do it to lose weight although he has just because he is eating better by default. I've read over parts of it and the diet for me makes sense. Putting into play is a -whole- nother story!0
