I have been spinning 3 weeks now, did more few months back and last 2 days I have had a sharp pain in my left hand. More so in the botom palm of my hand. Was wondering if it is spinning related and if anyone else has had such a pain due to spinning?

What happens is you are putting too much weight into your hands. Try increasing the tension on your bike... even if you think you're going strong, add a little more tension and transfer your weight into your core. Try to remind youself to relax your shoulders and draw your belly in. You should try to have little to no weight in your hands. Good Luck!

Katie is right - you should have little to no weight on your hands. Try just using your fingertips to help you balance rather than actually grasping the handlebars. When I am in a standing position on the bike with my hands forward, I just rest my palms flat on the ends of the bars, but don't hold on.

Thanks guys! I will do what you are saying because the pain is becoming a problem. I don't want to stop the spinning routine.

Spinning is a stationary bike work-out (Spin bikes are different that your typical Life-cycle bikes you use at the gym, but don't ask me to explain the mechanics). Typically you work out for a 45-60 minute group class, led by a trainer, often to music that is selected to 'choreograph' the work-out - fast tempo songs for sprints, slower tempo songs for your higher resistance'hill climbs'. They are great because they can be an intense cardio work-out, but also great in that , because you control the resistance on your bike, you can control the intensity of your work-out, so classes can accommodate a range of fitness levels and abilities and you don't feel 'left out' if you can't work as hard as some of the others (or, if you are super fit, you can crank it up and work as hard as you want, even if you are in a group of beginners). Good work out, and lots of fun.

The other thing is to have your trainer check the way you have your bike set up (handlebar height, seat adjustment) to make sure you are sitting in an optimal position
