This article will change the way you think about food and the Western Diet. It's long (12 pages) but totally worth it if you have a couple of minutes to burn. May save your life too ![;) ;)](https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/resources/emoji/wink.png)

What do you think of the purpose of the article? Do you agree? Is it going to change the way you eat? (do I sound like a teacher giving an essay assignment?)

For those who don't know Michael Pollan is a good writer on the subject of nutrition and the american diet. I would recommend that if you have the free time you try reading a book by him, it is certain to change many peoples perception of food and eating.0

He has a book, which is basically a longer version of this article, called In Defense of Food. I found it really really interesting and it changed the way I think about food. He also has another book, The Omnivore's Dilemma, which is more about the social and political systems that control our food. Both super interesting and "food" for thought!0
