Hello everyone!

I am a refugee from an armband device. It worked, I lost 40 pounds in 6 months last year, but I had to give it up because my arms were developing blisters this past April. I didn't mind the monthly fees since I am a type 2 diabetic and I was able to drop one of my costly prescriptions. Since giving the device up, however, I gained 20 pounds! I now have to loose the weight again without any devices, since I am allergic to the nickle in the stainless steel. I am 56 years old and I would like to live longer than my parents and grandparents who died much to early due to complications from type 2 diabetes. My A1C crept up from 6.1 to 6.7 since April.

This site looks like it can be the answer to my needs. A food and exercise diary and it is all FREE! Thank you to the developers of my fitness pal.

Welcome and good luck! I'm don't know much about diabetes, but I'd be glad to help keep you motivated. I'm new here myself and am thrilled to use the diaries to help me keep track of things.

Type 2 Diabetes runs rampant in my family, including my husband's. It is predisposed in our genetic makeup and shows its ugly head when we gain too much weight. A1C is a measurement of how well your diabetes is under control. This past April my A1C was 6.1, almost normal, and I weighed 162 pounds (down from 203 lbs a year ago). Last week it crept up to 6.7. My A1C has been as high as 7.5, a very ugly number.

Since not tracking my food intake, I have gained 20 pounds. My new clothes (size 14 and 12) that I bought earlier this year do not fit any more. I am embarrassed about loosing control of my diet.
