Hello folks,

Just completed Week 8 Run 2 - STILL IN LOVE WITH IT !!!

Just wondering, do you include the warm up / warm down walks in your distance or do you just record the actual run part as your distance?? Normally, I use an app and record my work out from the time I start walking to the time I stop walking - however today, I could tell I had covered a lot more ground than usual so after the run I stopped the work-out and restarted a new one for the remaining 5mins walk and my walk home.

I travelled a total of 3.37 miles (including the 5mins walk and 28mins jog) with an average speed of 5.9mph - does this mean I have managed my 5K or not because it still includes the initial 5mins warm-up walk? I'm so impressed with this distance as it's the furthest I have run over the whole programme - and it doesn't even include the last 5mins walk !!!

Also, do people run the same route or a different route? I run the same and sometimes I feel this is good as I know if I'm on form or not, but then other times I feel it's bad because if I don't run as far as previous, I feel a little deflated !!!! Sorry for the post, am still sitting here red faced and sweating from my most successful run to date !!!

I can't believe that 6 weeks ago I was thinking "OMG, another 1 min to go" and today I was thinking "10 mins left, is that it?" !!!! xx

I just finished W8D1 and I'm having the same reaction. Is it possible that just a few weeks ago I thought running for 5 minutes straight sounded impossible? Today I couldn't get enough and had to MAKE myself stop running at 3.5 miles!

In the beginning when I was still walking a significant portion of the program I counted the warm up walk, but once I got to the point where I was running for blocks of time I started counting the walking and the jogging separately.

I don't run the same route all the time, but I do run the same routes, if that makes sense. When it's hot I run at the parks where it's shadier, and on cooler days I usually run different routes through town.

Thanks for the reply ! I think I will do my last week 8 run tomorrow including the walks and then from week 9, just track the actual jog itself - that way I will know when I reach the 5k goal !!!

I am aiming to do the 30mins run for 2-4 weeks, before then moving on to bridge to 10k :o) xx
