Hey quick question. Just bought 30 day shred on DVD but it doesn't say on the box if I need weights/mat etc? Can anyone tell me what I need please?

    mat and weights! 5 pounds
  • hand weights, for sure. I have JM's set of 3,5, and 8. Wal Mart for 20 bucks.

I don't use a mat, but I have carpet. If you'll be on hard floor, you'll likely want one.

weights, i woudl recomend starting out with 3lds, you will need a mat depending on where you do your workout.

you need weights ( up to 5 lbs.) and mat if you are working out on a hard surface.
  • mats aren't necessary if you will be working out on carpet. definitely start out with some hand weights too...i use 3 lbs and they KILL my arms.

I'm only on the first level. I like the mat for the pushups...it's easier on my knees. I use the 3 and 5 lb weights according to whether or not I can raise them lol. I'm not sure what's needed on L2 and L3...have fun!

Im a wimp so I use 2lb weights. I will upgrade eventually but these still kill my arms (I have ZERO upper body strength lol)

I just do it on my carpeted living room.

Also, I was lazy and didn't buy weights to start with - I was told to use water bottles filled with water or dirt/sand..

I used 5lb weights and i have a thick carpet, if you dont have one get a mat you will have to lie down a few times each level.
  • I have carpet in my workout room, so no mat necessary, but definitely if you have hardwood. I like to use a variety of different weights, depending on the move. For example, 5 or 8 lbs for dumb-bell rows and bi-cep curls, where as I would use 2 or 3 lbs for overhead raises (or when you get to Level 2 V-Raises -- brutal!), and 12 lbs for butterfly curls. I think it's nice to have a variety of weights, and not just one standard weight for each exercise. You will find some easier than others where you can increase your weight a bit, and some harder where you might want a lighter weight.

    Have fun -- 30DS is awesome! :)
