Hi All!

I've been thinking about the way that I grocery shop lately, and I've been finding that going shopping at the beginning of the week and choosing fresh fruits, veggies, and other healthy items to last through just one week is actually SAVING me money

So here's a question....what's on your grocery list?

I'd like suggestions of your favorite healthy, yummy foods that you can't go without (looking for new things to try).

Thanks!

  • Just got back from the store! I bought baby carrots, snow peas, sugar snaps, green beans, onions, sweet potatoes, peppers, romaine, cherry tomatoes, grapes, apples, strawberries and bananas from produce. Grape nuts and oatmeal from the cereal isle, as well as green tea bags. Whole wheat bread and simply fruit jelly. Yogurt, Hood's FF chocolate milk, skim milk, reduced fat swiss, snack cheese sticks, hummus, whole grain crackers, 93% lean ground beef, chicken breasts, pork tenderloin, lean ground turkey, lean stew meat and deli turkey. I bypassed a lot of the isles at the market with a list of must haves and like you save money by not buying unhealthy stuff!

I've substituted wheat items for flour products. There is some tasty wheat pasta out there, which satisifies some of my cravings. Turkey sausage is pretty good, too. Wheat torillas are pretty good, too. In fact, I don't think I've come across any 'substitutions' that I thought weren't any good.
  • Sounds very similar to my grocery list  I think that i'm going to start buying most of my veggies fresh too, rather than frozen. I definately found that it made ALOT of difference avoiding those middle isles with processed and pre-packaged foods, other than the necessities. I think I'm going to give hummus a try too. Fit2btied, is that a Bichon Frise in your picture? Such a cute dog! My parents have a Bichon, so loveable!

    Thanks!

Come to think of it, I was happy when I found reduced fat Pilsbury Cinnamon Buns and Fat-Free Pepperjack Cheese!
