I am a local midwife in the Northamptonshire homebirth team. I am planning to cycle across Ethiopia for charity with my friend Lisa Fox (a Milton Keynes midwife) for the charity Maternity Worldwide in March 2012. http://www.maternityworldwide.org/pages/ethiopia-bike-ride-challenge-2012.html I then plan to stay and offer my services as a midwife for a week following the challenge.
http://www.maternityworldwide.org
Charity Registration No. 1111504
Maternity Worldwide is working to reduce mortality associated with childbirth in developing countries. This is through deployment of medical and midwifery staff, subsidy of patient care for those most in need and advocacy within the developed world.
I am looking for sponsorship from local companies who's business relate to the charity I am raising money for. In return I would like to mention these generous donators within various local articles I plan to write for local magazines and newspapers and also link to them through the blog I am writing to follow my journey.
I have so far received an amazingly positive response, but it is early days and I wish to really raise the awareness of my challenge and the charity I am cycling for. Please spread the word!!
My Blog (its fairly new but I will be adding to this regularly) = http://www.midwives-in-ethiopia.blogspot.com/
