I've been using MFP for a week. I've never really dieted before because I knew I wasn't serious, just like I never tried to quit smoking until I knew I was ready to quit (1998). I turn 41 next month and clearly trying to get anywhere on my own wasn't working since I hate working out (I like doing fun activities, but even a "hike" is work), and am a foodie.
So now I am working with a doctor, have very new information to share, and expect to see results.
The secret is PROTEIN (and 25-30 g within 60 minutes of getting up, to jump start the metabolism). The only way I can see to get 120 g protein a day is to use shakes, sampled most of the ones they sell (Swedish Medical Center in Seattle) and settled on two. And some of the high protein snacks. None of this stuff is cheap. They said Super Supplements also sells stuff like this.
I ring in the handbell choir at Tibbetts United Methodist Church (I also do their Facebook page). My husband Steve and I are childfree; I have an amazing Italian greyhound best friend, and three cats. I am an EcoBroker - a real estate broker who specializes in green homes altho I do all real estate types. I blog, and have a green lifestyle page on Facebook - "like" Westside Green Living With Wendy to learn more green stuff.
Looking to connect with, share information, and support others.

Hello, Wendy!
Welcome to MFP! I've only been a member for not quite a week, but I think this is the greatest! I never really had a weight problem until I had a baby in my 40's and then was diagnosed with a mild form of Muscular Dystrophy. I'm not into counting calories and would get discouraged with anything that had me weighing food, or counting carbs, calories, etc. MFP does it all for me! Now I have a brighter outlook on the situation! I hope you like it too...everyone is so friendly and helpful! Good luck!0
