below is the link to the menu to buca de beppo a family style italian restaurant...
i have already called them and they do not have the nutritional info for any of their dishes which surprises me but whatever....
i would love some input into dinner selection for tomorrow night - my hubby and i are going there for his birthday dinner.....
i am shooting to have 1000++ cals to "spend" as i have 1400 plus i'm going to push to have at least a 600++ calorie burn earlier in the day....with a light breakfast, lunch and maybe 1 snack i should have plenty of room to pull off a within calorie day...the sodium will be the killer i know but plan on drinking lots and lots of water throughout the day and again on sunday to help with the water weight.....

soooo suggestions please....thanks in advance....

My best advice is to go with the small plates, and avoid anything that says cream, oil, fried, crispy, and lots of cheese. You can ask for oil on the side like with the tomato and mozarella salad. And ask for Cheese on the side so that you can add how much you want. I would stick to probably the straight marinara sauce or even the spicey marinara. Just limit your serving sizes as you get to serve yourself. And when you get home to log it just look up what you ate and make your best comparison to what people have put on here. That is what I do when I go to the persian restaurant I look up the individual items and pick the one that I think is closest to the calories. Good luck and have fun. A fun place to sit is what they call the kitchen table cause all the servers will bring their dishes by you before bringing them out to the dinning room and tell you what it is and what it has in it! It is fun to see everything before you order!

The menu depends on location, so different locations might have different options. That said, from MFP I learned that pasta has a lot more calories than I expected, so I would go w/ a non-pasta entree. I'd look at the eggplant parmigian, or the chicken limone/chicken saltimbocca/oven roasted salmon w/ the lemon butter or pesto cream sauces on the side. Then add a side of green beans or broccoli. If you want a salad, the apple gorgonzola one looks good - I often bring my own lo-cal dressing to restaurants. Have fun!

yeah i was thinking the green beans and the limone chix with that apple salad lol....ill ask for all the sauces/dressing on the side and dip as needed....i know i'm avoiding ALL the BAKED dishes lol although in the past i would have totally gone for the lasagna or the 4 baked pasta dish...my how times have changed lol...

I'm not sure which one you will be going to but at the bottem of the Jacksonville menu that I looked at it said for nutritional information send us a request. If you e-mail them they will probably send you a PDF with the nutritional information!

This might surprise you but in most Italian restaurants the food with the least cals is the ravioli, that is of course if it has marinara sauce and doesn't have tons of cheese on top. It shocked me but the more menus I look up, the more this is the case. Even Dr. Oz showed this on his show.
