I posted a topic the other day looking for snack suggestions and someone said something about 1 oz of cheese. I started thinking what is 1 oz? What is one cup of a solid food? I don't have scale or and I don't have time to take out the measuring cup every time I walk into the kitchen. Does anyone have any good ways to estimate measurements?

I find the food packages are really helpful. They always give you per serving amounts for calories and such....

Cheese? I'm not sure, it's small if it's hard cheese, a piece about 1 inch by 2 inches maybe?, and 1/4 cup for shredded, but even that depends on if it's regular or finely shredded.

    Servings are about:

    Protein-palm of hand
    Veggies-2 cupped hands
    Fruit-1 cupped hand
    Starch or grain-1 cupped hand

    Hope that helps!!!

Well if you eat sliced cheese it says the size. Most are 2/3 or 3/4 oz, but some are 1oz.

I really recommend taking an extra few seconds to weigh and/or measure your food. It was really eye opening for me when I started. What I considered a serving size before was way too generous - that's how I ended up here!

I wish you much success on your journey!
