Pals, how bad is grilled version of chicken thigh meat compared to that of chicken breast meat ?

I have been doing Dukan diet (low carb) cruise phase and it is working great for me. But, I got sick of chicken breast meat (too fiberous and chewy to eat for me. I do fish and shrimp (don't eat other meats) couple of time a week.

I get the organic kind and trim all the visible fat, marinate it with some lime juice and cayenne (no oils, etc) and throw it on my george foreman.. It taste awesome and I totally love it.....

Any thoughts ?

BTW, my heath numbers (cholestrol, etc..) are in the excellent category. Don't want to screw them.

It is a little higher in calories but not by much still better than steak.

As far as effecting your stats, there's only a bit more fat and saturated fat in a thigh (skinless, boneless, fat removed) vs breast so there's not much difference. And grilling would be best since that would allow some of the fat to drain. I prefer using thighs for grilling because they don't tend to get so tough.

Something to try if you'd like - one of my favorite ways to marinate chicken is to put it in a large container with lemon slices and a little extra lemon juice then cover it all with water and let it sit all day. Whether it's thighs or breast, the meat tends to stay quite moist. Hubby tends to add a little BBQ sauce for extra flavor while grilling which gives a nice combination of sweet lemon and tangy sauce.

Agreed, thighs (as long as skin is removed) are only slightly higher in fat/cal. I like to rotate them in periodically, too.
